Online Quality Assurance Programs Provide New Opportunities.


"Before getting my Master of Science in Quality Assurance, I was stuck behind a desk for 20 years. Now, I have doubled my pay and my job is more exciting." This is Luis Rodriguez Luis Rodriguez or Luis Rodríguez can refer to different people:

 speaking about the benefits of obtaining a MSQA degree online from California State University, Dominguez Hills California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is a campus of the California State University system. It is located in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson, California.

 for XL America Specialty Insurance Co., graduated in Spring 2000, and believes that the MSQA at Cal State Dominguez Hills has made himself more marketable.

The online MSQA at Dominguez Hills celebrates its fifth anniversary in 2001. Five years is ancient in cyberspace Coined by William Gibson in his 1984 novel "Neuromancer," it is a futuristic computer network that people use by plugging their minds into it! The term now refers to the Internet or to the online or digital world in general. See Internet and virtual reality. Contrast with meatspace. , and Rodriguez and many others from around the globe have benefited from their experience with the MSQA program. Recently ranked among the top 20 "best cyber-schools" by Forbes magazine, the school reports that it takes pride in serving online students.

The MSQA program was developed by experienced and dedicated professionals who have coordinated the curriculum to ensure course offerings meet the changing requirements for improved organizational competitiveness. Also, students in the Master of Science in Quality Assurance receive education in both the technical and administrative foundations of Quality Assurance.

The MSQA program has helped students implement important changes in their profession. For example, three former MSQA online students were on a team at Boeing Airlift and Tanker Programs. The team was awarded the coveted cov·et

 Malcolm Baldridge Award for quality in 1998, and the team credits their participation in the MSQA in helping achieve this honor. The Malcolm Baldridge award is given by the United States Department of Commerce The United States Department of Commerce is the Cabinet department of the United States government concerned with promoting economic growth. It was originally created as the United States Department of Commerce and Labor on February 14, 1903.  for "Performance Excellence in Manufacturing or Services."

These three former students are now part time instructors in the program. Jim Walden Jim Walden (born ca. 1938 in Aberdeen, Mississippi) is a former college football head coach. In 17 seasons his overall record was 72-109-7 (.402). Walden coached for nine seasons at Washington State, and for eight seasons at Iowa State. , Program Management Specialist on the Boeing A&M-Southern California Performance Excellence Team, is one of the MSQA graduates who has become an instructor in the MSQA program: "There are several dozen who attended the MSQA program, which was offered onsite here at Boeing in Long Beach. This program allowed us to improve our skills to become an effective deliverer of products and services." This is just another success story out of many related to the Quality Assurance Program at CSUDH.

Much of the success of the MSQA program has been due to the customer service at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Distance learning students will never set foot on the campus, and to support these students Dominguez Hills works to provide technical and academic support via phone, e-mail and the Web, giving students the sense of having a "university in their living room."
