One more year: SEC. 404 filing deadline extended for smaller companies.


Public companies with a market capitalization Market Capitalization

A measure of a public company's size. Market capitalization is the total dollar value of all outstanding shares. It's calculated by multiplying the number of shares times the current market price. This term is often referred to as market cap.

The SEC also proposed creating a new category of large accelerated filers--companies with a market capitalization of $700 million or more that meet the same conditions that apply to accelerated filers.

Large accelerated filers would have to file annual reports within 60 days of their fiscal year-end Fiscal Year-End

The completion of a one-year, or 12-month, accounting period.

Notes:
The reason that a company's fiscal year often differs from the calendar year and does not close on Dec 31, is due to the nature of company's needs.
 (the previous deadline was 75 days).
