OncoTherapy Science, BioWa to Collaborate in Antibody Drug Development.


Tokyo, Japan, Oct 25, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - OncoTherapy Science and BioWa jointly announced on October 24 that the two companies have agreed to collaborate in research on cancer-focused monoclonal antibodies (MAbs).

Targeting cancer-specific membrane protein owned by OncoTherapy, the two companies will create an antibody with improved ADCC ADCC antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity.

 (antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity) activity using BioWa's proprietary antibody technology POTELLIGENT. The ADCC activity is an anti-tumor mechanisms.

. BioWa's POTELLIGENT technology can increase the level of the ADCC activity about 100-fold. Currently, BioWa licenses POTELLIGENT to Medarex and Biogen Idec.
