On the road again ... but so much lighter this time.

Heading out for a tour or summer intensive? Don't pack every leotard you own! "My philosophy is you should be able to carry everything yourself," says Pennsylvania Ballet's Hawley Rowe. Choose leotards that work for all genres, and combine studio and travel outfits. Tanks and jazz pants can pull double duty. "I challenge myself to come up with fun combinations," says Rowe. "Liquid soap is easier to transport than a bar because a bar gets gross when you move it from place to place," says Rowe. If it's packed so it can spill, assume it will spill. "I've had things explode on me," Rowe says. Look for screw-on lids or put items in plastic baggies. Search for travel versions of items you normally wouldn't have room for. We found an inflatable roller that fits in spaces which a foam one can't. A travel sewing kit is a must for emergencies. If you're going to be in a dorm, flip flops, robes, and water bottles are essential. Baseball caps camouflage unruly hair. "I always wear my PB cap on the plane," Rowe says. Here are some of our favorite traveling-light finds with their suggested retail price. Space in that dance bag is limited, so make the most of it!
