BASSOONIST STEVE Vacchi and pianist Andrew Campbell will be joined by three rhythm musicians in a jazz and classical program at 4 p.m. Sunday in Beall Concert Hall at the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities.  School of Music, 961 E. 18th Ave.

Tickets, available at the door, are $7 general admission and $4 for students and senior citizens.

The program includes Jazz Piece for Bassoon and Piano by Richard Lottridge, Passacaglia passacaglia: see chaconne and passacaglia.  in Blues by Emil Petrovics, Jazz Variations by Libby Larson, two 20th century classical selections by South American composers and two jazz selections for bassoon and rhythm section.

Other performers on the program are Tyler Abbot, bass; Sean Wagoner, percussion; and Brian Gardiner, drums.

He joined the University of Oregon music faculty two years ago.

An advocate of new music, he has played more than 150 recently composed works, including 30 premieres. Vacchi has performed in more than 20 countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean.

Vacchi has performed in backing groups for a diverse group of artists such as Michael Brecker, Victor Borge, Garrison Keillor, Luciano Pavarotti, Tony Bennett, the Moody Blues and Peter Schickele.
