Landing signal officers pay close attention to an aircraft landing on board Enterprise (CVN (Card Verification Number) See CSC.  65) as the carrier transits Scotland's Pentland Firth Pentland Firth (pĕnt`lənd fûrth), channel, 6 to 8 mi (9.7–12.9 km) wide and c.14 mi (23 km) long, N Scotland. Connecting the North Sea with the Atlantic Ocean, it separates the Scottish mainland from the Orkney Islands. . Enterprise is one of seven aircraft carriers involved in Summer Pulse 2004, the simultaneous deployment Installing, setting up, testing and running. This military term, which means the placement of troops and equipment in the field, is widely used with computers as an alternate to the word "implementation.  of seven carrier strike groups in five theaters with other U.S., allied and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy's first deployment under its new Fleet Response Plan.
