When Howard Stern announced his move to satellite broadcasting, it signaled the possibility of a sea change in the world of radio. Then, with the increasing popularity of the iPod, stations began offering downloadable podcasts, another significant development. Do you listen to conventional AM or FM stations, podcasts or satellite radio?

I don't listen to podcasts or satellite radio. I just listen to conventional radio. Most of the time I am just so busy reading things and running the office that I tend to use the old fashioned radio. I definitely would like to make the switch to one of the other two sometime in the future, but I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

when I can. I'm just too busy to spend some time on the learning curve. It is not that I don't understand technology: it is just that it requires a good amount of time to learn and I just can't afford it right now.

I use both regular radio and XM radio. I live in a beach community so when I travel from there to downtown L.A. I like to listen to the morning show. I get not only up-to-the-minute traffic information but also get to listen to local personalities on air. Normal radio gives you the flavor of the city, depending on when you are listening to it and who the radio jockey is. I also get a little bit of news from it, but mostly only music. But with XM, the best thing is that it is commercial free and different. I can choose the kind of music I want and the choices are just so many. I can just listen to '70s music if I want to. Both types have benefits.

I am still an old-fashioned guy and so I still listen to FM in my car. I mostly tune into stations like KROQ, classic rock stations and some noncommercial college and public radio stations. I am just not ready to invest in buying a satellite radio for the car. I don't really listen to radio at work either, so conventional radio seems enough. I definitely like the commercial-free aspect and the greater selection of music that XM has to offer but maybe I will think about it for my next car. For now, I don't mind the occasional commercial.

because I am Scottish. I do listen to NPR online sometimes but mostly I use Internet radio for BBC stations. I do that quite often in the mornings and evenings. I do have an iPod and I've listened to podcasts a few times but haven't gotten in the routine of doing it regularly. More and more I listen to programs that have been archived online; NPR and BBC archive particular shows on their sites. I've also recently been listening to one of those radio music channels where you type in your musical tastes, pandora.com. I wasn't totally hooked, but I would certainly listen to it again.

I use only XM radio and rarely use regular broadcast radio. Even if I do it is mostly only AM stations. XM radio has so much variety and offers a commercial-free experience with better quality of music. I think XM has got it all covered. They primarily have music but they also have eight to 10 news channels and updated weather information. I had some friends who liked it very much so I made the switch a little over two years ago. It is very easy to use and I actually haven't gone back to FM radio since then.
