There is little in Marannis's account that hasn't already been aired elsewhere in the press, but he weaves it all into the larger context of Clinton's life. In two other studies, Arkansas journalists Meredith Oakley and John Brummett weigh in with their own accounts of this Home State Pol Who Made Good. Miss Oakley covers much of the same territory as Mr. Marannis, but not as thoroughly. Her book, On the Make -- aptly named -- spotlights Clinton's talent for the double-cross.
