Olympic Resource Management Announces British Columbia Ministry of Forests Purchase of 28 additional Licenses for CRUISECOMP.

Olympic Resource Management (ORM), a subsidiary of Pope Resources (Nasdaq:POPEZ), announced that the British Columbia Ministry of Forests (BCMoF) has exercised their right to purchase 28 additional licenses for ORM's cruise compilation software program, CRUISECOMP, for a total of 42 licenses.

CRUISECOMP is a timber cruise compilation software program developed by ORM that allows users to compile timber cruise data to regulatory standards established by the BCMoF and other regulatory agencies. To date, over 100 licenses have been sold to industrial forest products companies, forestry consultants, and government agencies. CRUISECOMP is also used in selected international markets and has been placed in several educational institutions.

ORM has also incorporated several value-added modules into CRUISECOMP, including Cruiser Call Grades/Net Factoring, Log Forecasting and Analysis, End Use Sorting, and Appraisal Module. ORM is currently developing an inventory plot database with a spatial link.

Recognizing the growing need to support forest certification efforts, ORM is committing more resources to developing analytical tools for planning, monitoring, and reporting of forest certification regimes, including CSA, AF&PA SFI, ISO 14001, and FSC. Mr. Goodbrand added, "Our development approach has been to provide our clients the ability to flexibly incorporate our tools into existing systems environments. ORM has created integration between all of our modules, including CRUISECOMP, COMPLAN, Obligation Tracking, Landscape Report Cards, Plot Database, and Integrated Data Capture System. We also link with 3rd party integrated forestry systems and analysis programs."

COMPLAN is a spatially based forest resource modeling program used for strategic, tactical and operational planning. It is capable of both volume and area harvest control and provides an analytical framework for generating operationally feasible solutions that provide a direct link between the different planning levels. COMPLAN can generate schedules for activities required for certification and an audit trail that can then be tracked and documented in the Obligation Tracking System documents.

Landscape Report Cards provide a graphical summary of key landscape configuration and composition characteristics and serves as a powerful documentation and communication tool for complex environmental issues. Integrated with COMPLAN, the Landscape Report Cards can also be used to document the current and future status of the landscape.

Integrated Data Capture System is a photo-attribute data capture system for the British Columbia Vegetation Resource Inventory (VRI) with full validation and reporting capabilities.
