Olin Board Elects William J. Alley a Director.STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 1995--The Board of Directors of Olin Corp. has elected William J. Alley, former chairman and chief executive officer of American Brands Inc., as director of the corporation. With his election, Olin's board now numbers 13 persons.Alley served as chairman of the board, chief executive officer and chairman of the executive committee of American Brands, a Fortune 100 company headquartered in Old Greenwich, Conn., from 1987 until he retired in 1994. He continues to serve as a member of the board and chairman of the executive committee. American Brands' major businesses include international tobacco, distilled spirits, hardware and home improvement products, office products, and golf and leisure products. He began his career as an attorney and assistant actuary for the Oklahoma State Insurance Board, following service in the U.S. Air Force.
