He was intent on capturing the inherent sense of dignity the teens proudly expressed. But as hip-hop was in full effect, so too were massive unemployment, crime and drug use. Few though, anticipated a cheaper, more potent and smokable form of cocaine, which over the course of the decade, would unleash an incalculable wave of destruction to families and communities nationwide that would haunt generations yet to come.
