Okuma milestone.

On July 12 Okuma Corp. (Oguchi, Aichi Prefecture, Japan) rolled out its six thousandth double-column machining center. Production began in October 1964, when Asia's first Olympic Games were held in Tokyo and the so-called bullet train began service between Tokyo and Osaka.

The company said it maintains an estimated 70% share of Japan's double-column-MC market. The figure is 95% for those used in metal-mold production.

Reported by Shota Ushio, Tokyo, Japan.
