NetPro's President and Chief Executive Officer, Joanne Carthey, "Initial market response to DS Expert has been overwhelming.

"Numerous Fortune 100 companies have been utilizing DS Expert and we have been hearing things such as, 'we are using DS Expert daily and have already saved hours of administration time by quickly finding and correcting replica table inconsistencies' and 'DS Expert is saving me hours every week, I've already caught several problems that would have remained elusive for days if not weeks. The multi-server trace function is one of the best diagnostic tools I've used.'"

"We love DS Expert. It is a major benefit to the Directory Services administrator and has really taken the guess work out of my diagnostics. This is an extremely valuable utility for the NetWare 4.1 administrator, and it definitely makes my job a lot easier," said Andy Von Der Bruegge, Missouri Department of Health.

"DS Expert makes it even simpler to manage, administer and migrate to NetWare 4.1," said Scott Wells, manager of developer programs for Novell's NetWare Products Division.

NetWare 4.1 has been receiving glowing reviews. However, very few networks are immune to power failures, disk or equipment failures and user errors. This is when DS Expert becomes an essential tool for the network administrator. In addition to its alarm-features, it provides a console for monitoring and troubleshooting the health and performance of the NetWare Directory Services See eDirectory.

(networking) Netware Directory Services - (NDS) Novell, Inc.'s directory services for Netware, Windows NT, and Unix. The NDS directory represents each network resource (user, hardware, or application) as an object of a certain class, where each class has
(TM) (NDS(TM)).

The NDS is much like a "Yellow Pages" telephone directory that permits any object on the network to look up another object and find its location and the services it provides. NDS includes a database that is a directory of information about every object on the network -- including users, printers, message servers, volumes and groups. DS Expert's Windows(TM) interface allows it to present multiple server NDS information simultaneously, in an easy to understand graphical format.

The following DS Expert features ensure and maintain the integrity of the NDS:

o Partition A reserved part of disk or memory that is set aside for some purpose. On a PC, new hard disks must be partitioned before they can be formatted for the operating system, and the Fdisk utility is used for this task.  View -- view entire partition and easily spot network

directory corruption; monitor multiple servers at a glance.

o Partition Alerts -- alters include not enough replicas of a

partition or too many replicas for one server.

o Multi-Server DS Trace -- graphical presentation of NDS trace

messages across multiple servers; making it simple to diagnose

problems at a glance; view multiple servers simultaneously via

multiple windows.

o Replica Sync Alert -- warns of replication errors.

o Server Time Sync Alert -- alerts the administrator when servers

have fallen out of time sync.

o Low Disk Space Alert -- warns when there is little space left on
