Office of Naval Research Awards Second Phase of Research Contract to TASER International Inc.; ONR Releases First $74,500 of $348,000 in Second Phase Funding.

The contract will fund research into advanced less-lethal weapons using TASER International's core Electro-Muscular Disruption (EMD EMD Electromechanical dissociation, see there ) technology. The research under the second phase of the contract should be completed within 18 months. The second phase research is budgeted for $348,602.

The current approval includes the first $74,500 in funding, the remainder of the second phase budget is expected to be released from budget funds from the coming fiscal year starting Oct. 1, 2002.
