Odyssey Software Odyssey Software was a computer game developer founded in 1987 in Eastham, Massachusetts by Art V. Cestaro III. The company produced games for the Amiga and the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).  Inc. today announced the selection of its ViaXML product by Equential Technologies for use in all of its OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  mobile product offerings. Equential's goLabor and goOrder products incorporate ViaXML to provide Pocket PC, Windows CE (Windows Consumer Electronics) Microsoft's version of Windows for handheld devices and embedded systems that use x86, ARM, MIPS and SHx CPUs. Equential is currently integrating ViaXML into all upcoming enterprise mobile software product releases.

Equential started shipping goOrder 2.0 in August and began shipping goLabor 2.5 in September. goOrder is a highly configurable sales order The sales order, sometimes abbreviated as SO, is an order received by a business from a customer. It is particularly useful in field service applications for the management of people, materials, and work orders in applications such as construction, paving, and other project management scenarios.

ViaXML enables goLabor and goOrder to provide seamless connectivity over any wired or wireless IP-based network including WAN, LAN, dial-up modem and the device's cradle. ViaXML provides XML XML

For seamless operation in casually connected environments (where wire or wireless connections are frequently unavailable), Equential employs Odyssey Software's SyncFX framework for ViaXML in its goLabor and goOrder products. SyncFX enables developers to easily create mobile applications with bi-directional ADO recordset synchronization between Windows CE devices and enterprise database servers. Using SyncFX, mobile applications can dynamically create ADO recordsets on the device with automatic tracking of field level changes. Built-in compression and processing of only changed data provides superior performance when synchronizing data with the server.

Multiple goLabor and goOrder deployments underscore the success of Equential's mobile application products, and the underlying ViaXML remote data access technology, in meeting customer requirements in these markets.

"The clear technical advantages of ViaXML, Odyssey Software's OEM program - and its exceptionally responsive and knowledgeable support team - made it clear that Equential should adopt ViaXML", said Jeff Eiberger, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. The performance of these products, coupled with Equential's expertise in the Field Sales and Materials Management markets, ensures their success," stated Mark Gentile, President and CEO of Odyssey Software.
