It said that FBR has been receiving various requests for extension of time for filing of Income Tax Return due to pre-occupation of tax payer/ tax advisors A tax advisor is a financial expert especially trained in tax law. Some countries require tax advisors to verify the balance sheets of companies above a certain size. Individuals usually require tax advisors to minimize taxation, to avoid learning the details of tax law in in connection with the Holy month of Ramadan, Aitakaf, Umra and Eid related holidays. However, it is pertinent to reiterate that in the cases where income tax returns could not be e-filed for any reasons, hot copies of income tax returns can be filed by extended dates i.e October 22, 2009, subject to the condition that in such cases returns or e-filed latest by November 30, 2009 otherwise the hot copies filed by the tax payers shall not be treated as valid return of income. It may be noted that no refund claim shall be proceeded till return is e-filed. The FBR further clarified that no further extension in time for filing of income tax returns will be allowed.
