Oce-USA Inc. acquires Douglas Paper Co. Inc.; acquisition expands position in supplies industry.

:OCENY) announced today it has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Douglas Paper Co. Inc., a private Corona, Calif.-based paper coating and converting company.

The acquisition includes Douglas' coating and converting equipment, product formulas, inventory and trademark rights. The company said it plans to retain the Douglas work force. Terms were not disclosed.

``The acquisition reflects a strategic objective of aggressively expanding our presence in the reprographics Duplicating printed materials using various kinds of printing presses and high-speed copiers.  and design imaging supplies industry,'' said Jan Dix, president, Oce-USA. ``It also favorably impacts how we serve customers in the West Coast region.''

Oce plans to use Douglas' resources to elevate service to customers in California, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada and Washington. The goal is to offer a larger segment of the region's Oce customers on-demand, next-day delivery of papers, films and vellums.

Oce already maintains coating and converting operations in Charleston, Ill. and Guilford, Conn., as well as three West Coast distribution centers in Seattle, San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden  and Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. .

Douglas Paper Co. serves a range of blueprinting and reprographic firms in the West Coast region. Douglas' three aqueous coating lines, and sheeting and slitting converting equipment produce diazo di·az·o
