ObjectVideo(R), the leader in intelligent video, announced today that it has been selected by Memphis/Shelby County Airport as a critical component of an Aviation Perimeter Intrusion Detection System This article is about the computing term. For other uses, see Burglar alarm.

An intrusion detection system (IDS) generally detects unwanted manipulations of computer systems, mainly through the Internet.
(APIDS APIDS Application Protocol-based Intrusion Detection System ) to enhance perimeter security and protect against various types of threats to the airport and arriving and departing aircraft.

ObjectVideo VEW(R) is featured as part of the APIDS developed by Stanley Security Solutions, Inc., a provider of access control and security solutions. The software will be integrated with closed circuit television (CCTV CCTV

) cameras to proactively detect security threats along 34,000 feet of fenced perimeter, as well as to alert airport and law enforcement authorities. ObjectVideo VEW will secure the airport's runways and grounds against prohibited individuals and vehicles even during nighttime, poor weather and limited visibility conditions.

"ObjectVideo is a true force multiplier A capability that, when added to and employed by a combat force, significantly increases the combat potential of that force and thus enhances the probability of successful mission accomplishment.  for Memphis Airport," said Walter White, Director of Operations and Public Safety, Memphis/Shelby County Airport Authority. "We chose ObjectVideo VEW to substantially increase our security posture without having to increase our manpower. Roving foot or vehicle patrols by our security force are only effective when the officer is in the area. ObjectVideo provides us 100 percent coverage of our perimeter, 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

ObjectVideo's patented, award-winning intelligent video surveillance software, based on artificial intelligence called "computer vision," provides automated, real-time detection, identification, tracking and analysis of potential threats and events. It runs all objects in a camera's view against threat-specific pre-programmed rules. When an object violates a rule, for example, when a person or vehicle enters an off-limits area or lingers near it, the software alerts security personnel by phone, pager, email or an alert console.

"ObjectVideo VEW represents the current state-of-the-art for video-based threat detection technology, both in terms of its algorithm sophistication so·phis·ti·cate
