Juanita Rasmussen

COTTAGE GROVE Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery).  - A celebration of life gathering will be held today, Nov. 30, for Juanita Bemis Rasmussen of Cottage Grove, who died Nov. 27 of age-related causes. She was 89.

Rasmussen was born Dec. 27, 1912, in Red Deer, Alberta Red Deer is a city in central Alberta, Canada. It is located near the midpoint of the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor, and is Alberta's third most populous city - after Calgary and Edmonton. , to George and Estella Barrett Gates.

She moved to Cottage Grove as a young child and attended Cottage Grove High School Cottage Grove High School is a public high school located in Cottage Grove, Oregon. It has a newer school building, opened in 2003 to replace the old high school building that was built in 1939 and held its first classes in 1940. .

In 1934, she married Nelson Bemis. He died Nov. 25, 1974. On July 20, 1975, she married Edgar Rasmussen. He died in 1989.

Rasmussen was a homemaker and raised sheep. She lived in Cottage Grove for 87 years and is remembered for growing a beautiful garden.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Bemis Cemetery in London, Ore. Today's celebration of life gathering will follow at 3 p.m. at London Grange in Cottage Grove. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence Lewis

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be Dec. 2 for Clarence Lester Lewis of Springfield, who died Nov. 26 of heart failure. He was 77.

Lewis was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Tillamook to Clarence Lewis Sr. and Aldyth Chase Lewis.

He served in the Navy during World War II before moving to Eugene in 1946, where he worked most of his life as a plumber.

He married Myrtle Smith in Eugene on June 12, 1948. She died Nov. 12, 2001.

His interests included fishing, traveling and the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time "Spending Time" is the first single released by Christian artist Stellar Kart.

The lyrics describe the band members desire to spend "more time with God". "Sometimes it’s a real struggle to spend time with God.
 with family, visiting with friends and going out to eat. He was a member of Eugene Christian Fellowship.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Valenzuela of Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley, ; three sons, Chesla of Anaheim, Calif., Bradley of Grizzly Flats, Calif., and Gary of Upland, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Monday's service will be at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Lane Memorial Gardens.

Helen Lynch

A celebration of life gathering will be held Dec. 22 for Helen Lucille Lynch of Bellingham, Wash., who died Nov. 14 of age-related causes. The former Eugene resident was 89.

Lynch was born Sept. 8, 1913, in Goldendale, Wash., to Frank and Mabel Bond Ross.

She married Alvin Lynch in Eugene in 1942. He died in 1977.

Her interests included hiking, camping, skiing and painting with water colors. The Dec. 22 gathering will be held at 1 p.m. at the Obsidian obsidian (ŏbsĭd`ēən), a volcanic glass, homogeneous in texture and having a low water content, with a vitreous luster and a conchoidal fracture.  Hiking Club Lodge at Spring Boulevard and Essex Street in Eugene.

Ellen Baldwin

A memorial service will be held Dec. 4 for Ellen Augusta "Ell" Baldwin of Eugene, who died Nov. 26 of age-related causes. She was 86.

Baldwin was born Jan. 27, 1916, in Chico, Calif., to Ralph and Ellen Guilmett. After graduating from high school in San Mateo San Mateo (săn mətā`ō), city (1990 pop. 85,486), San Mateo co., W Calif., on San Francisco Bay; inc. 1894. It is a commercial and retail center with some high-technology manufacturing. San Mateo, Spanish for St. , Calif., she attended junior college for two years.

She married Donald Baldwin in San Mateo on Feb. 27, 1937.

It probably originated on the French Riviera in the early 1920s, and was known in the United States by 1927. , writing books and playing bridge. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile.

Beth Bloomfeldt

VENETA - Beth E. Bloomfeldt of Veneta died Nov. 27 of age-related causes. She was 86.

Bloomfeldt was born March 29, 1916, in Yankton, S.D., to David and Jeannie Green Law. She attended schools in Yankton and in Armour, S.D.

She married Norman Bloomfeldt in Vancouver, Wash., on Nov. 25, 1939. He died Oct. 31, 1988.

Before moving to the Veneta area in 1994, Bloomfeldt lived in the Roseburg area for 20 years.

Her interests included crocheting and volunteer work.

Survivors include a daughter, Corinne Hammon of Alvadore; two sons, John of Elmira and David of Alvadore; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A daughter, Lela Love, died in 1997.

No service is planned. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
