Anna Conklin

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be held July 31 for Anna "Ruth" Conklin of Springfield, who died July 27 of age-related causes. She was 87.

Conklin was born April 10, 1915, in Enumclaw, Wash., to James and Karen Larsen.

She graduated from Eugene High School in 1933 and attended beauty college. She worked as a beautician for several years and for a time operated her own beauty salon. She worked as a nurses aide at McKenzie-Willamette Hospital for 22 years, retiring at age 69.

She enjoyed traveling, knitting, crocheting and working in her vegetable garden. She was a member of Springfield Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Conklin-Miller.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Springfield Lutheran Church. Wednesday's service will be at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. Buell Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Lutheran Church or the Lion's Sight and Hearing Foundation.

Shelby Whipps

The funeral will be held July 29 for Shelby Dean Whipps of Eugene, who died July 23 of congestive heart failure congestive heart failure, inability of the heart to expel sufficient blood to keep pace with the metabolic demands of the body. In the healthy individual the heart can tolerate large increases of workload for a considerable length of time. . He was 64.

Whipps was born Aug. 18, 1937, in Klamath Falls Klamath Falls, city (1990 pop. 17,737), seat of Klamath co., SW Oreg., at the southern tip of Upper Klamath Lake; inc. 1905. It is the processing and distribution center of a lumber, livestock, and farm area.  to George and Mabel Jackson Whipps. He married Rosemarie Sandobal on June 20, 1966, in Oakridge. She later died. He married Sherrie McNash in Eugene on June 16, 1999.

Whipps moved to this area as a teen-ager and graduated from Eugene High School in 1955. He served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1961.

He worked as a service representative for Pape and Hyster for many years. His last job was at Lythia Dodge in Eugene.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He was a member of the Eagles lodge in Verb 1. lodge in - live (in a certain place); "She resides in Princeton"; "he occupies two rooms on the top floor"

Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Whipps; a daughter, Teri McKern of Eugene; three sisters, Audrey Richmond and Ruth Clark, both of Eugene, and Louise Cortez of Roseburg; and two step-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene. Monday's service will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park.

Phyllis Jackson

SPRINGFIELD - A private family service will be held for Phyllis Eleanor Jackson of Springfield, who died July 26 at age 71. Her family chose not to list the cause of death.

Jackson was born March 8, 1931, in Rockford, Ill., to Clyde and Pearl Pope Heatherington. She married Larry Jackson
    Lawrence Curtis Jackson (June 2 1931 - August 28 1990) was an American right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies from 1955 to 1968.
     in Oceanside, Calif., in 1966.

    She grew up in Illinois and moved to Oceanside in 1965. Jackson and her husband moved to Springfield in 1972. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening and spending time "Spending Time" is the first single released by Christian artist Stellar Kart.

Jackson was a member of the McKenzie Artists' Guild and the Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859.     Survivors include her husband; a son, Barry Johnson of Springfield; a daughter, Stacey Blacker of Newburgh, Ind.; three sisters, Adeline Merrill, Blanch blanch

     Fulkner and Betty Rice; a brother, Bob Heatherington; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Deborah Becker, died June 17, 2002.

    Buell Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

    Massimo DiMarco

    SPRINGFIELD - A celebration of life will be held Aug. 1 for Massimo DiMarco of Springfield, who died July 24 of cancer. He was 84.

    DiMarco was born Jan. 21, 1918, in Berwick, Pa., to Eduardo and Louisa Desrida DiMarco.

    He married Joyce Robinson in Los Angeles on Oct. 6, 1946.

    He attended the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities. .

    DiMarco served in the Army during World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean War Korean War, conflict between Communist and non-Communist forces in Korea from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953. At the end of World War II, Korea was divided at the 38th parallel into Soviet (North Korean) and U.S. (South Korean) zones of occupation. .

    He was employed as a cowboy, actor, dancer and construction worker.

    DiMarco worked as the head of the mapping section for the Lane County Department of Assessment and Taxation until his retirement.

    He lived in Whittier, Calif., Lake Elsinore, Calif., Fort Worth, Texas Fort Worth is the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas, 18th-largest city in the United States[1], and voted one of "America’s Most Livable Communities. , and Bangor, Maine, before moving to Springfield 48 years ago.

    His interests included constitutional law and organic farming, and he enjoyed fishing and fly tying. DiMarco was an active member of St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield.

    Survivors include his wife; three sons, William DiMarco of Junction City, Michael DiMarco of Bellingham, Wash., and Lawrence Crook of Philadepha; four daughters, Catherine Avery of Tacoma, Cara DiMarco of Eugene, Christine DiMarco-Crook of Downingtown, Pa., and Cile DiMarco-Grey of Ventura, Calif.; and one grandchild.

    Thursday's celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Willamette National Cemetery Willamette National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery in Clackamas County, Oregon, about 10 miles southeast of the city of Portland, Oregon. It encompasses 269.4 acres, and as of the end of 2005, had 126,561 interments.  in Portland. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmelite Nuns in Eugene.

    Jerry Collins

    A wake will be held Aug. 24 for Jerry Ray Collins of Eugene, who died June 28 of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease: see prion.

    Collins was born June 24, 1936, in Newton Falls, Ohio Newton Falls is a city located within Newton Township in Trumbull County, Ohio in the United States. The population was 5,002 at the 2000 census.

    He served in the Air Force as a flight engineer.

    Before moving to Eugene 10 years ago, Collins lived in California's Napa Valley for 30 years.

    Locally, he owned and operated Collins Rods and Cycles.

    His interests included restoring vintage cars and motorcycles.

    Survivors include two sons, Stacy of Sacramento and Christopher of Napa, Calif.

    The Aug. 24 wake will be at 86491 Lorane Highway in Eugene. Wilson's Chapel of the Roses in Roseburg is in charge of arrangements.
