Peter Mobley

A memorial service will be held today, Aug. 4, for Peter Eugene Mobley of Eugene, who died Aug. 2 at age 74. His family chose not to list the cause of death.

Mobley was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Hoquiam, Wash., to Eugene and Rose Dixon Mobley. He married Shirley Penrod in Shawneetown, Ky., on March 27, 1969.

He lived in Coos Bay Coos Bay (ks), city (1990 pop. 15,076), Coos co., SW Oreg., a port of entry on Coos Bay; founded 1854 as Marshfield, inc. 1874, renamed 1944.  until 1945. He served in the Navy from 1945 to 1946, then attended the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities. , where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting. He then lived in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, , Chicago, Kentucky, Quebec, Cupertino, Calif., Lake Tahoe and Bend before moving to Eugene.

He worked with computers, in accounting and as a consultant. He also was a business owner.

He was an avid UO sports fan and was a member of the Duck Athletic Fund and UO Alumni Association An alumni association is an association of graduates (alumni) or, more broadly, of former students. In the United Kingdom and the United States, alumni of universities, colleges, schools (especially independent schools), fraternities, and sororities often form groups with alumni .

, Calif.; two daughters, Marilyn Tallock of Carlsbad, Calif., and Melinda Zugelder of Springfield; a sister, Mary Ring of Coos Bay; a brother, Dick of Tigard; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A great-great-grandson, Alex Maupin, died in 1995.

Today's service will be at noon at the family home. Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Parks

 service will be held today, Aug. 4, for Charles Alpheus Parks of Cottage Grove, who died Aug. 2 of age-related causes. He was 96.

Parks was born June 20, 1906, in Yoncalla to Henry and Eliza Holcomb Parks. He married Vera Jones in Eugene on Dec. 27, 1944.

In addition to Cottage Grove, he had lived in Yoncalla and Eugene. He worked at Georgia Pacific and as a building contractor.

He enjoyed golfing, traveling and gardening. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Eugene.

Survivors include his wife; a sister, Mabel Elliott of Creswell; and one grandchild. A daughter, Sonia Peacocke, died previously.

Today's service will be at 11 a.m. at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Lane Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gregory Canaday

A memorial service will be held Aug. 5 for Gregory Earl Canaday of Woodburn, formerly of Crow, who died July 31 in a car accident. He was 50.

Canaday was born Dec. 14, 1951, in Watertown, S.D., to Kathleen Sly Roberts and Wayne Canaday. He married his wife, Paula, on Nov. 14, 1998.

He was raised in Crow and graduated from Crow High School in 1970. He also attended Clackamas Community College Clackamas Community College (CCC) is a community college located in Oregon City, Oregon, United States. It is located at the junction of Oregon Route 213 and Molalla Avenue, nearly at the southern edge of the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. . He worked in the logging field, as a millwright mill·wright

He enjoyed training and showing world-quality paint horses.

Survivors include his wife; his mother of Bremerton, Wash.; his father of Eugene; a son, Blake Canaday Star of Hermiston; a daughter, Jeana Canaday Bingamon of Summerville; two brothers, Bill of Springfield and Bob of Coburg; six sisters, Carol Canaday of Eugene, Cherie Griffith of Texas, Shelly Quimby of Dayton, Lisa Canaday of Silverdale, Wash., Teena Canaday of Newberg and Molly Surgeon of Springfield; and one grandchild.

Monday's service will be at 10 a.m. at Dayton Christian Church. Holman, Hankins, Bowker and Waud in Oregon City is in charge of arrangements.
