Oran Taylor

SPRINGFIELD - Oran "Frank" Taylor of Springfield died July 30 of age-related causes. He was 87.

Taylor was born Dec. 30, 1914, in Kerns, Ill., to Thomas and Susie Dunn Taylor. He married Geneva Geneva, canton and city, Switzerland
Geneva (jənē`və), Fr. Genève, canton (1990 pop. 373,019), 109 sq mi (282 sq km), SW Switzerland, surrounding the southwest tip of the Lake of Geneva.

He was a log truck owner and operator. Taylor moved to this area in 1935.

His interests included hunting. He was honored by Oregon State Parks for 17 years of service as a campground host.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, William and Oran, both of Springfield; two daughters, Beverly Hill of Arkansas and Jo Jacoban of Springfield; a sister, Pauline Parks of Eugene; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A grandson, Trevor Taylor

Eugene Anderson

Eugene R. "Gene" Anderson of Eugene died July 31 of age-related causes. He was 81.

Anderson was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Osage City, Kan., to Victor and Elizabeth Anderson Anderson. He married his wife, Dorothy, in 1953.

He graduated from high school in Topeka, Kan. He moved to this area 65 years ago. Anderson served in the Marine Corps for 15 years and was discharged at the rank of master sergeant. He was assigned to the USS Midway Three ships of the United States Navy have been named USS Midway, the first after Midway Atoll, the second and third in memory of the Battle of Midway.

Roberta Campbell

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held Aug. 3 for Roberta Louise Campbell Chief Superintendent Louise Campbell was a fictional character in the ITV police drama The Bill. She was played by Sarah Winman. She was the Borough Commander of Canley.  of Springfield, who died July 30 of congestive heart failure congestive heart failure, inability of the heart to expel sufficient blood to keep pace with the metabolic demands of the body. In the healthy individual the heart can tolerate large increases of workload for a considerable length of time. . She was 55.

Campbell was born July 1, 1947, in Drain to Rex and Louise Baimbridge Spencer.

Campbell worked at Safeway and as a day-care provider.

Sigrid Hanson

A memorial service will be held Aug. 7 for Sigrid Marie Hanson of Eugene, who died July 30 of age-related causes. She was 98.

Hanson was born Jan. 2, 1904, in Chicago to George and Severine Sether Hansen. She married Howard Hanson Howard Harold Hanson (October 28, 1896 – February 26, 1981) was an American composer, conductor, educator, music theorist, and ardent champion of American classical music.  in Chicago on Jan. 1, 1927. He died Jan. 19, 1992.

She graduated from high school and attended the Bush Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, graduating in 1923. Hanson worked as a drama coach and elocution teacher and as a secretary with Wilson Sporting Goods The Wilson Sporting Goods company is a sports equipment manufacturer based in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A., and currently is a foreign subsidiary of the Finnish company Amer Sports that also owns Atomic, Suunto, Precor, and Salomon. . She had a lifelong interest in entertaining audiences with dramatic and comedic readings, and she was a member of the Little Theater and Talented Folk. Hanson also enjoyed Norwegian rosemailing painting.

She moved to this area 31 years ago and was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Eugene, the Sons of Norway and a garden club. Hanson was honored for her many hours of volunteer work at Sacred Heart General Hospital.

Survivors include two sons, George of Eugene and Jonathan of Jefferson City, Mo.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A son, Grant, died in 1940.

Wednesday's service will be at 3:30 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church in Eugene. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the radio ministry at Central Lutheran Church.

Lloyd Adams

Lloyd Lee Adams of Eugene died July 29 of cancer and a stroke. He was 79.

Adams was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Hatfield, Mo., to George and Velma Roberts Adams. He served in the Army during World War II. He was employed as a steel worker at Schnitzer Steel, as a mill worker at Rosboro Lumber and as a maintenance worker at the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities. .

He moved to the Eugene-Springfield area in 1955.

His interests included fishing, hunting and wood crafting. He was a member of the Moose and Eagles in Eugene and volunteered with the Senior Companion Program, working with developmentally disabled children.

Survivors include three sisters, Neva Riley and Bernice Fletchall, both of Eugene, and Pearlie Younkin of Newport.

Kathy Farr

A family memorial service will be held for Kathy L. Farr of Eugene, who died July 29 of kidney failure kidney failure

Wunsch was born Nov. 16, 1934, in Corning, Calif., to Albert and Lillian Jensen Wunsch. He graduated from high school in Manteca, Calif., and served in the Air Force.

Wunsch married Dixie Barth in Anchorage on May 8, 1959.

Before moving to Springfield in 1972, Wunsch lived in Anchorage, Coos Bay and Klamath Falls.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Robin Green of Pleasant Hill, Lisa Thomas of Newburg and Kelly Solesbee of Creswell; five grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grand- children.

Sunday's service will be at 3 p.m. at Twin Rivers Baptist Church in Springfield. Inurnment will be at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Gordon McCune

Services have been held for Gordon Ray McCune Sr. of Eugene, who died July 9 of complications from diabetes. He was 69.

McCune was born Jan. 18, 1933, in Tsung Fa, China, to Henry and Gladys White McCune. He lived in China, California and several cities in Oregon before settling in Eugene.

He graduated from Bible school and attended the University of Oregon. He served in the Army during the Korean War Korean War, conflict between Communist and non-Communist forces in Korea from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953. At the end of World War II, Korea was divided at the 38th parallel into Soviet (North Korean) and U.S. (South Korean) zones of occupation.  and worked in a glass factory and made windshields in California.

His interests included swimming, reading, church activities and studying theology and missions. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the New Life Apostolic Tabernacle Tabernacle (tăb`ərnăk'əl), in the Bible, the portable holy place of the Hebrews during their desert wanderings. It was a tent, like the portable tent-shrines used by ancient Semites, set up in each camp; eventually it housed the Ark  in Eugene.

Survivors include three sons, Gordon and Michael, both of Eugene, and Timothy of Portland; a daughter, Joy Brewer of Beaverton; two brothers, Daniel of Lodi Lodi, city, Italy

Mary Ann Gray

The funeral will be held Aug. 3 for Mary Ann Jewell Gray of Eugene, who died July 30 of age-related causes. She was 88.

Gray was born April 30, 1914, in Harrison, Ark., to Thomas and Alice Curtis Bailey.

She married Samuel Gray in Arkansas on Oct. 2, 1936. He died in 1993.

Gray, a homemaker, lived in Albany from 1945 to 1959, then moved to Salem. She moved to Oakridge in 1961 and lived there until 1967. Before moving to the Eugene area a little more than three years ago, Gray also lived in Scio and Corvallis.

Her interests included rock collecting, dolls, games, people and playing pool. She received a special award for 12 years with the Blood Bank Drive.

Gray was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Springfield.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Sarvis of Eugene, Stella Crafts of Springfield and Wilma Bender of Albany; two sons, Tom of Scio and Ken of Albany; a sister, Thelma Gray of Bakersfield, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Iva Cave, died March 31, 1998.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield. Saturday's service will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be Saturday at Miller Cemetery in Scio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Alice Kendall

A memorial service will be held Aug. 6 for Alice May Kendall of Portland, formerly of Eugene, who died July 30 of age-related causes. She was 96.

Kendall was born Nov. 28, 1905, in Wheatland, Wyo., to Frank and Ethel Moore Strong. She married Gordon Kendall in Eugene on July 28, 1925. He died in 1985.

She moved in 1907 to Eugene, where she attended grade school and high school. Kendall moved to Albany in 1927 and lived in Sacramento and Winters, Calif., before settling in Portland in 1946.

She attended Eugene Bible College and Western Oregon University History

Originally established in 1856 by Oregon pioneers as "Monmouth University", a private college, and later merged with another private institution (Bethel College near Rickreall) to become "Christian College.
 in Monmouth. She worked as a clerk at Montgomery Wards, Sears and Rogers. Kendall served as a choir director and Bible school teacher, and she was the secretary/treasurer of the Portland Beekeepers Association.

Survivors include a niece and a nephew. A son, Kenny, died in 1945.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Tuesday's service will be at 3 p.m. at Cascade Nursing Center in Portland. Gable & Parkrose Funeral Chapel in Portland is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parkrose Christian Church.

Edward Swenson

A memorial service will be held Aug. 7 for Edward T. Swenson of Salem, formerly of Springfield, who died July 29 of a heart attack. He was 77.

Swenson was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Port Angeles, Wash., to Martin and Hilda Quenell Swenson. He married Libbie Keene in Camas, Wash., on March 10, 1944.

He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War Vietnam War, conflict in Southeast Asia, primarily fought in South Vietnam between government forces aided by the United States and guerrilla forces aided by North Vietnam. , serving in both the Navy and the Coast Guard. Swenson served as a Coast Guard law enforcement officer and as a chief of intelligence for the 17th Coast Guard District.

He lived in Springfield from 1960 until 1970, when he moved to Salem. Swenson worked as a legal investigator for several law firms in Lane, Linn linn
