Harvey Nielsen

JUNCTION CITY Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  - The funeral will be Dec. 11 for Harvey Franklin Nielsen of Junction City, who died Dec. 8 of pulmonary disease. He was 63.

He was born April 17, 1938, in Antelope, Mont., to George and Kristine Lodahl Nielsen.

He moved to Junction City in 1948 and graduated from Junction City High School in 1957.

He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, and playing cards playing cards, parts of a set or deck, used in playing various games of chance or skill. The origin of playing cards is unknown, and almost as many theories exist as there are historians of the subject.  at the senior center.

He was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Church and of the Danish Brotherhood, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels n. 1. A program that delivers hot meals to persons, such as the elderly or disabled, who are confined to their homes and unable to cook for themselves; also, the meals thus delivered. Such programs are usually conducted by governmental or charitable organizations. .

Survivors include five brothers, George and Gordon, both of Junction City, Dennis of Cottage Grove Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery). , Gary of Waukasha, Wis., and Kenneth of Peoria; and three sisters, Margaret Hinchman of Roseburg and Clarice Jeppesen and Jean Anderson For the cookbook author, see .
Jean Anderson (12 December 1907 – 1 April 2001) was an English actress born in Eastbourne, Sussex. She is best remembered for her television roles in the 1970s BBC drama The Brothers
, both of Eugene. Another sister, Judy Lingo of Veneta, died previously.

Tuesday's funeral will be at 11 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Church. Burial will be at the Danish Cemetery.

Raymond Anderson

 service will be held Dec. 11 for Raymond Martin Anderson of Sweet Home, who died Dec. 6 of age-related causes. He was 80.

He was born June 25, 1921, in Beloit, Wis., to Hans Edwin and Celina Poquette Anderson.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He moved to Sweet Home in 1997 after many years on the rodeo circuit, including the Pendleton Round-up The Pendleton Round-Up is a rodeo held in Pendleton, Oregon, United States, during the second full week of September each year, since 1910. The rodeo brings roughly 50,000 people every year to the city of Pendleton. .

He enjoyed movies, books, reading his Bible, and his dog, Goldie.

; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel, Sweet Home. Tuesday's graveside service will be at 1 p.m. at Brownsville Pioneer Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Safe Haven Humane Society in care of the funeral home.

Shirley Kanatzar

Shirley Tower Kanatzar of Eugene died Dec. 3 of emphysema emphysema (ĕmfĭsē`mə), pathological or physiological enlargement or overdistention of the air sacs of the lungs. A major cause of pulmonary insufficiency in chronic cigarette smokers, emphysema is a progressive disease that commonly  and lung cancer lung cancer, cancer that originates in the tissues of the lungs. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States in both men and women. Like other cancers, lung cancer occurs after repeated insults to the genetic material of the cell. . She was 78.

She was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Alpena, S.D., to Orra Lyman and Margie Jane Barringer.

She lived in Coos Bay for 35 years and in Sun City, Calif., for seven years before moving to Eugene 10 years ago.

She worked as a Navy nurse, homemaker, chef and manager of the Charleston Boat Basin.

She married Jay Tower II in Los Angeles in 1945. He died in 1977. She married Woody Kanatzar in Los Angeles in 1978. He died in 1986.

Her interests included golf, bowling, travel, reading, flowers, and crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

She was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Baron of Springfield and Lynda Harding of Eugene; a son, Jay Tower of Medford; two brothers, Lynn Barringer of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ora Barringer of Norwalk, Calif.; a sister, Veda Atchley of Yorba Linda, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

No service is planned. Burial will be at sea. England's Eugene Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
