Ross Carter of Eugene died June 19 of age-related causes. He was 88.

Carter was born March 10, 1914, in Bois D'Arc Bois´ d'arc´

Carter was a member of the Oregon State Hall of Fame, the Southern Oregon College Hall of Fame and the University of Oregon Hall of Fame. In his later years, he was active in the USA Track & Field Masters and set numerous records and won several national titles competing in the shot put and discus. Carter was selected the outstanding field event athlete in the 85-89 age group as recently as 2000. He is a member the USATF USATF United States of America Track and Field (governing body for T&F, Race Walking & Distance Running)  Masters Hall of Fame.

He owned Starr-Carter, a wholesale lumber business. Carter lived in Lakeview, Klamath Falls Klamath Falls, city (1990 pop. 17,737), seat of Klamath co., SW Oreg., at the southern tip of Upper Klamath Lake; inc. 1905. It is the processing and distribution center of a lumber, livestock, and farm area.  and Ashland before settling in Eugene in 1934.

Survivors include five sons, Nick of Vida, Ross and Mike, both of Eugene, Jack of Powell Butte and Jeff of Portland.

No service is planned. Andreason's Cremation cremation, disposal of a corpse by fire. It is an ancient and widespread practice, second only to burial. It has been found among the chiefdoms of the Pacific Northwest, among Northern Athapascan bands in Alaska, and among Canadian cultural groups.  & Burial Service in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice or the UO Athletic Fund in care of the Ross Carter track award.

Carl Dawson

REEDSPORT - Private services will be held for Carl M. Dawson of Reedsport, who died June 20 of cancer. He was 84.

Dawson was born April 2, 1918, in Tillamook to Carl and Pearl Foland Dawson. He married Lucille Strauss in Portland on Aug. 26, 1945.

He graduated from Tillamook High School Tillamook High School is a public high school in Tillamook, Oregon, United States. It is part of Tillamook School District Number 9. Well-known alumni include radio personalities Lars Larson and Mildred Davy[1][2]. . He moved to a farm along the Smith River in 1938. Dawson worked as a dairy farmer for 40 years. He later worked as a small engine mechanic.

He was an avid water skier and enjoyed dancing, and swing and big band music. He was a member of the Bay Area Traditional Society for Jazz and the Reedsport Seniors Dandy Dancers. Dawson and his wife served as grand marshalls at the Reedsport Ocean Festival in 1994. They also served as king and queen of the Coos Bay Dixieland Jazz Festival in 2001.

Survivors include his wife; a son, James of Reedsport; a daughter, Linda Hamlett of Reedsport; two sisters, Cliffane Adams of Boise and Nancy Hansen of North Bend; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held later. Dunes Memorial Chapel in Reedsport is in charge of arrangements.

Robin Wright

 service will be held June 30 for Robin Wright of Myrtle Point, who died June 25 of a heart attack. He was 48.

Wright was born April 2, 1954, in Eugene to Gene and Viola Wright. He married Janell Crabb on Dec. 2, 1978.

His interests included working on cars, fishing, bowling, hunting and home remodeling remodeling /re·mod·el·ing/ (re-mod´el-ing) reorganization or renovation of an old structure.

 projects. He especially enjoyed socializing, particularly at early-morning coffee get-togethers with his friends.

Survivors include his wife; his father and stepmother, Gene and Ginger Wright of Prineville; his stepfather, Carl Starr of Myrtle Creek; four sons, Ivan Hawker and Roy Wright, both of Coos Bay, Danny Wright of Springfield and Robin Wright Jr. of Myrtle Point; two daughters, Danyel Wright of Myrtle Point and Deana Wright of Coos Bay; five brothers Bill and Lonnie, both of Springfield, Dave of Global, Eddie of Washington and Steve of Myrtle Creek; and 10 grandchildren.

Sunday's service will be at 1 p.m. at Norway Cemetery in Myrtle Point. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service at Rotary Park in Myrtle Point. Myrtle Grove Funeral Services in Coquille is in charge of arrangements.

Eunice Jurgensen

The funeral will be held July 1 for Eunice Beatrice Jurgensen of Nampa, Idaho, formerly of Springfield, who died June 25 of age-related causes. She was 91.

Jurgensen was born June 17, 1911, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Thomas and Elizabeth Thompson Humphreys. She married James Jurgensen in Brooklyn on April 1, 1939. He died Sept. 19, 1990.

She graduated from high school in Brooklyn and attended credit union courses at a college in Portland. She lived in Springfield from 1943 until 1990. Jurgensen established and managed the Weyerhaeuser Credit Union and worked at the Eugene Teacher's Credit Union.

She enjoyed traveling and visited 49 states. Jurgensen was a member of the Toy & Doll Makers of Oregon, National Association of Letter Carriers The National Association of Letter Carriers (or NALC) is a labor union for employees of the United States Postal Service who serve as letter carriers (informally, "mail carriers", "mailmen", or "postmen", although many are now in fact female).  Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 916, and Willamette Christian Center.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Monday's service will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the India Orphanage Fund at Lowman Community Church, Lowman, ID 83637.

Kenneth King

CULP CULP Caribbean University Level Programme  CREEK - The funeral will be held July 1 for Kenneth Kirby "Kotton" King of Culp Creek, who died June 26 of age-related causes. He was 78.

King was born March 15, 1924, in Fresno, Calif., to Marcus and Ettabelle Sturges King.

He served in the Navy.

Before moving to Culp Creek 21 years ago, King lived in Clovis, Calif., and Palm Springs, Calif. He worked as a fire and equipment watchman WATCHMAN. An officer in many cities and towns, whose duty it is to watch during the night and take care of the property of the inhabitants.

From 1951 to 1966, King lived with his domestic partner, Edith Fletcher. His domestic partner of 14 years, Mary Atanasu, died April 8, 1988.

King enjoyed walking in the woods and considered his job a hobby. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was never without his dog and companion, Skeeter skee·ter

Survivors include a son, Gary of Klamath Falls; three daughters, Julie King and Karen King, both of Klamath Falls, and Teresa Valencia of Fort Klamath; a sister, Dorothy Fields of Idaho; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. Monday's service will be 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fir Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove.

Breese Dame

Breese Eugene Dame of Eugene died June 20 of a stroke. He was 81.

Dame was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Shawnee, Okla., to John and Rubye Layton Dame. He married Lois Irwin in Las Vegas on March 2, 1970.

He grew up in Baton Rouge, La. Dame served as a flight engineer in the Air Force. He worked as a plant engineer at a General Motors factory in Van Nuys, Calif.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and helping others. Dame especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Elks and the American Institute of Plant Engineers. Dame was recognized with an award in emissions control design.

He lived in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

 in California and Lincoln City before moving to this area one year ago.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry of Harrisburg and Richard of El Cajon, Calif.; a brother, Leon of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Shirlienne Kazanoff of Brookline, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Becky Dame, and a grandson, Craig Dame, died previously.

No service is planned. Joan Robins-Farris

A private family service will be held for Joan Ellen Robins-Farris of Eugene, who died June 27 of heart disease. She was 56.

Robins-Farris was born Oct. 26, 1945, in Salem, to Ralph and Violet Teem Robins.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing and arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts. . Robins-Farris was a lifetime resident of Oregon.

Survivors include three daughters, Jill Alvarez of La Pine, Tammy Johnston of Springfield and Peggy Hunter of Phoenix, Ariz.; three brothers, Harry Robins of Silver Lake, Tommy Robins of Eugene and Jimmy Robins of Christmas Valley; two sisters, Helen Johnson of Oakland and Patsy Leach of La Pine; and three grandchildren.

Burial will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
