John Stoneberg

A memorial service will be March 23 for John Arthur John William Arthur, OBE, MD (born Glasgow, 1881, died Edinburgh, 1952) was a medical missionary and Church of Scotland minister who served in British East Africa (Kenya) from 1907 to 1937. He was known simply as "Doctor Arthur" to generations of Africans.  Stoneberg of Eugene, who died March 16 of cancer. He was 84.

Stoneberg was born Sept. 7, 1917, in Coburg to Herbert and Althea Wilkins Stoneberg. He married Barbara Wikoff in Coburg in 1950. They later divorced.

He graduated from Coburg High School. He served as a medical technician in the Army during World War II. Stoneberg worked on his family's century farm and as a hog and chip operator at the Zip-O-Log Co. for 25 years. He retired in 1978. He enjoyed hunting and working on his farm and working with his cattle.

Stoneberg was a member of the Coburg Grange and the Coburg Lions Club. He was selected as a grand marshal Grand Marshal is a ceremonial, military, or political office of very high rank.  celebration in recognition of his volunteer service. Stoneberg was a lifetime resident of Lane County.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Furniss of Lorane and Kristine Stoneberg of Coburg; a sister, Lorinda LeBleu of Eugene; two brothers, Marvin of Coburg and Kermit of Eugene; his former wife, Barbara Russell of Cottage Grove Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery). ; and one grandchild. A grandson, Christophe Desquesnes died in 1989.

Saturday's service will be at 2 p.m. at Coburg Methodist Church. Buell Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Coburg Methodist Church.

Eldora Van Curler

 service will be March 21 for Eldora Maria Van Curler of Florence, who died March 18 of breast cancer. She was 72.

Van Curler was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Parkston, S.D., to Otto and Maria Sprecher Hildebrand. She married George Van Curler in Eugene on May 9, 1947.

She and her husband owned and operated a service station in Florence for two years. Van Curler worked as a typesetter See imagesetter.  at the Siuslaw News for 28 years. Her interests included ceramics and sewing. She enjoyed spending time "Spending Time" is the first single released by Christian artist Stellar Kart.

The lyrics describe the band members desire to spend "more time with God". "Sometimes it’s a real struggle to spend time with God.
 with her family and watching the ocean. Van Curler, a 60-year resident of the area, lived in Swisshome, Elmira and Goshen before moving to Florence.

Thursday's service will be at 1:30 p.m. at Pacific Sunset Cemetery in Florence. Burns' Riverside Chapel/Florence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence Farris

A family service will be held in April for Clarence G. "Butch" Farris of Eugene, who died March 18 of cancer. He was 59.

Farris was born Nov. 8, 1942, in Longview, Wash., to Walter and Fern Hoffman Farris.

He worked as a helper at the West End Auction. Farris lived in the area for most of his life.

Survivors include his mother of Eugene; a brother, Larry of Eugene; and a sister, Sharon Mielke of Arizona.

Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Joe Willard

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be March 23 for Joe Willard of Springfield, who died March 18 at age 74.

The cause of his death has yet to be determined. Willard was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Alexandria, Neb., to James and Amelia Chrisman Willard. He and his wife, Patricia, got married in Reno, Nev., on Dec. 31, 1960.

He graduated from auctioneer school in Kansas. Willard worked as a heavy equipment operator for Springfield Rock Quarry from 1967 until 1994. He was a member of a labor union labor union: see union, labor.  and a former member of the Eagles. Willard enjoyed bass fishing, camping and carpentry. He lived in the area for 45 years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debra Scherich of Brownsville and Carla Parmenter of Eugene; a brother, Alton of Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. Doris Jackson

The graveside service will be March 22 for Doris Jean Jackson of Eugene, who died March 17 of age-related causes. She was 82.

Jackson was born May 22, 1919, in Portland to Oscar and Helen Hughes Helen Hughes AO is Professor Emeritus at the Australian National University and Senior Fellow at the Centre for Independent Studies. Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia on October 1st 1928, she migrated with her parents to Melbourne in 1939.  Abelsen. She graduated in 1937 from Jefferson High School Jefferson High School is the name of numerous high schools in the United States, most named in honor of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States, including:
  • Jefferson High School (Colorado) in Edgewater, Colorado
 in Portland.

She married Homer Gibson in Portland on Oct. 24, 1944. They later divorced.

Jackson, a bookkeeper, moved to Eugene 40 years ago. Her interests included playing cards playing cards, parts of a set or deck, used in playing various games of chance or skill. The origin of playing cards is unknown, and almost as many theories exist as there are historians of the subject.  and visiting the Oregon Coast The Oregon Coast is a geographical term that is used to describe the coast of Oregon along the Pacific Ocean. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Duzan of Fullerton, Calif.; a son, Greg Gibson Gregory Allan Gibson (born October 2 1968 in Ironton, Ohio) is an umpire in Major League Baseball who has worked in the National League from 1997 to 1999 and in both major leagues since 2000. Throughout his career, he has worn the number 53 on his uniform.  of Eugene; four grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.

Friday's service will be at 11 a.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Sanchez

SPRINGFIELD - Inurnment will be today, March 20, for Richard Anthony Sanchez of Springfield, who died March 14 in a car accident. He was 19.

Sanchez was born March 13, 1983, in Springfield to Rito and Betty Flint Sanchez.

He had attended high school and worked at McKenzie Forest Products. He enjoyed car restoration, low-rider bicycles and audio systems.

Survivors include his parents, Rito of Pomona, Calif., and Betty of Springfield; grandparents grandparents nplabuelos mpl

Thelma Kelley

Thelma Ellen Kelley of Eugene died March 18 of age-related causes. She was 86.

Kelley was born Feb. 18, 1916, in Augusta, Kan., to James and Anna Fields Lane. She married Vern Kelley in 1959. He died in 1980.

She was a manager for the Piggley Wiggley stores. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and traveling.

Dorothy Arrowood

A memorial service will be March 21 for Dorothy E. Arrowood of Eugene, who died March 17 at age 67.

Arrowood was born May 8, 1934, in Burnsville, N.C., to Hicks and Vera Hensley Fox. Her family chose not to list the cause of death.

She married Klem Arrowood in Burnsville on Jan. 30, 1958. He died in 1994.

In 1962, Arrowood moved to Eugene. She later moved to North Carolina North Carolina, state in the SE United States. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean (E), South Carolina and Georgia (S), Tennessee (W), and Virginia (N). Facts and Figures

Arrowood once worked as a telephone operator. More recently, she worked at the Emporium Distribution Center. Her interests included gardening and drawing.

Survivors include three daughters, Toni Harrison, Vera Arrowood and Teresa Arrowood, all of Eugene; a son, Gregory of Portland; a brother, Clarence Fox of Green Mountain, N.C.; three sisters, Katherine Higgins of Burnsville, Clairrean Boyd of Lebanon and Norma Jean The term Norma Jean can refer to several people:

Max Millhollin

A memorial service will be held today, March 20, for Max Millhollin of Eugene and Creswell, who died March 16 of age-related causes. He was 89.

Millhollin was born Sept. 19, 1912, in Guthrie Center, Iowa Guthrie Center is a city in Guthrie County, Iowa, United States, along the South Raccoon River. The population was 1,668 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Guthrie CountyGR6. , to Clinton and Francis Porter Millhollin. He married Betty Cleveland in San Francisco on Nov. 17, 1934. She died in December 2000.

Millhollin graduated from high school and business college.

He was a traveling salesman for several years and worked for Safeway in Wenatchee, Wash. During and after World War II, he managed five Safeway stores in Southern Oregon.

Millhollin lived in Astoria from 1951 to 1957 and managed a wholesale grocery center. In 1957, he moved to Medford and bought a beverage distribution company. He retired in 1980 and moved to Eugene in 1992.

He enjoyed horse-riding, fishing, golf, recreational vehicle travel, family activities and spectator sports.

Millhollin was a 32-degree Mason with the Masonic/Shrine temple. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Rogue Valley Country Club and the Rogue Valley Sheriff's Posse.

Survivors include three sons, Richard of Creswell, James of Friday Harbor, Wash., and Theodore Anderson of Cocoa, Fla.; a sister, Marguerite Schaefer of Eugene; and four grandchildren.

Today's service and entombment will be at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford. Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Fletcher

OAKRIDGE - The graveside service will be March 22 for Larry R. Fletcher of Oakridge, who died March 16 of cancer. He was 59.

Fletcher was born Feb. 26, 1943, in Stockton, Calif., to Everett and Wilma Knight Fletcher.

He served in the Army. Fletcher worked as a laborer, mechanic and sheet-metal worker. He lived in the area for three years.

Survivors include his mother, Wilma Wilson of Oakridge; a daughter, Tina Williams; a son Jeremy; a brother, Bill Wilson of Portland; a sister, Arlene Berryman of Burns, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

Friday's service will be at 2 p.m. at Forestvale Memorial Park in Oakridge. Oakridge Chapel of the Woods Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gloria Brown

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be March 16 for Gloria Jean Brown of Springfield, who died March 10 of cancer. She was 54.

Brown was born Dec. 22, 1947, in Sayre, Okla., to Robert and Leula Pea Pebley. She grew up in Placerville, Calif., and graduated from Ponderosa High School This article is about the high school in California. For the high school in Colorado, see Ponderosa High School (Parker, Colorado).

Ponderosa High School, founded in 1963, is a member of the El Dorado Union High School District.
 in Shingle Springs, Calif. She married Lloyd Brown in Diamond Springs, Calif., on June 10, 1967.

Brown worked at Pacific Bell Telephone Co. in El Centro, Calif., from 1965 to 1983. In 1988, she attended American River College American River College (ARC) is a two-year community college located in the southern edge of unincorporated Foothill Farms in Sacramento County, California.

The college was opened in 1955 as American River Junior College, on the site of the old Grant Technical College.

She became blind in 1992 and received recognition from U.S. Sens. Ron Wyden and Gordon Smith for overcoming her disability and becoming self-employed.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jaime Brown and Monica Brown, both of Springfield; four sisters, Jo Anne Hyatt of Roosevelt, Utah, Helen Allen of Lakeside, Calif., Sharon Grewe of West Sacramento, Calif., and Beverly Day of Toms River, N.J.; and two brothers, Clayton Pebley of Independence and Stanley Pebley of Imperial, Calif.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Buell Chapel in Springfield. Saturday's service will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
