Oakridge places third in Mazama boys meet.

Ellis Phillips won the shot put, discus (153-6) and high jump for La Pine. Kevin Pelligrino of Klamath Union set a meet record of 4:25.84 in the mile.

Girls track and field

Emily Collins of Marist won the 800 with a time of 2:17.96 at the 26th Annual Meet of Champions at Cascade High School Cascade is a name for several high schools in North America, including:

Junction City's Damaris Tucker was victorious in the long jump at 16-10.

Sierra Ferguson of Madras won the discus with an effort of 140-6, Cascade's Sara Majors took the 300-meter hurdles in 45.9, and Hayley Belli of Philomath captured the 3,000 in 11:10.7. All are Class 3A state bests.

Chelsea Russell cleared a state-best 11-10 to set a meet record in the pole vault and lead La Pine to third place at the 16-team Gottschalk Mazama Invitational in Klamath Falls.

Klamath Union won the meet with 130 1/2 points, followed by Henley with 103 and the Hawks with 85 1/2 . Oakridge was 10th with 21 points.

Kate Ludwig of Days Creek won the long jump and 100-meter hurdles, and Nikki Wood of Yreka, Calif., won the 200 and 400 (a meet-record 58.19). La Pine's Emily Pick won the discus with a throw of 113-7.

Boys golf

Sasha Rose shared first-day medalist honors with a 41-41-82 to lead host Sutherlin to the early team lead at the two-day Far West League district meet at Oak Hills Golf Course. The meet concludes on Monday at Coos Country Club.

Sutherlin has a 341 to lead second-place North Bend by 14 strokes. Following North Bend were South Umpqua (356), Brookings (386), Glide (424) and Coquille co·quille
