Oakland Eastbay Public Relations Society of America Hosts Northern CA Compass Awards Dinner September 23.

Lake Merritt is a large tidal lagoon that lies just east of downtown Oakland, California. It is surrounded by parkland and city neighborhoods. A popular 3.5 mile (~5.6 km) walking and jogging path runs along its perimeter.

The best public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most  programs and projects in Northern CA conducted within the past year will be celebrated and recognized this month, at an industry awards dinner and program described as the most prestigious event for PR people in the Bay Area.

) today announced that the Compass Awards Dinner Program, Best In Show 2004, will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2004 at the Bellevue Club on Lake Merritt, 525 Bellevue Ave., Oakland. Social hour begins at 6:00 pm followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. The awards program will begin at 7:45 p.m. Cost to attend: $75.00 PRSA members, $95.00 non members. Tables of ten are available for a flat rate.

The Compass Awards is an annual competition open to Northern California Northern California, sometimes referred to as NorCal, is the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. The region contains the San Francisco Bay Area, the state capital, Sacramento; as well as the substantial natural beauty of the redwood forests, the northern  public relations practitioners, agencies and departments. Besides the San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden , Silicon Valley and Oakland Eastbay PRSA chapters, the competition was also extended this year to the Capitol chapter in Sacramento.

More than 75 entries were submitted in response to the call for entries in June. The entries are being judged by the Alaska PRSA chapter. Winners will be on display at the Compass Awards dinner.

The Bellevue Club at Lake Merritt is a private club located in an elegant, five story European designed manor. Hors d'oeuvres and a full course dinner with wine will be served. "The beautiful Bellevue Club is a perfect match for THE social event of 2004 for PR people," said Mary Lou Thiercof, Oakland Eastbay PRSA Chapter President.
