OakPAC Votes to Early Endorse in Three Critical Races.


OAKLAND, Calif. -- OakPAC, the largest political action committee in Oakland representing the business community, formally endorsed candidates for Alameda Alameda (ăləmē`də, –mā`də), city (1990 pop. 76,459), Alameda co., W central Calif., on an island just off the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay; settled 1850, inc. as a city 1884.  County Supervisor -- District 3, California Assembly -- District 18, and California State Senate The California State Senate is the upper house of the California State Legislature. There are 40 State Senators. The state legislature meets in the state capital, Sacramento. The Lieutenant Governor is the ex officio President of the Senate.  -- District 10.

"Out of an outstanding group of candidates, OakPAC chose a slate who have expertise in a variety of issues that effect the business community, including taxation, economic development, housing and transportation," stated Michael Colbruno, Vice-chair of OakPAC.

OakPAC interviewed ten candidates for three races, who expressed interest in the above-mentioned seats. John Dutra, Ellen Corbett Ellen M. Corbett (born 31 December 1954) is a Democratic politician from San Leandro, California. She is currently serving her first term in the California State Senate. Corbett represents the 10th District, which includes San Leandro, Hayward, Pleasanton, Union City, Fremont, , and Johan Klehs Johan Klehs is a California state politician. He is a Democrat. He represented California's 14th Assembly District from 1982 until 1994. He served as a member of the State Board of Equalization from 1994 until 2002 when he was termed out and lost the Democratic primary for State  were considered for the 10th Senate District; OakPAC gave a dual endorsement to John Dutra and Ellen Corbett, both receiving $1,500 each to their respective campaigns. OakPAC also considered Mary Hayashi Mary Hayashi was elected to the California State Assembly in 2006. She is a Democrat. She represents the 18th Assembly District which includes San Leandro, Hayward, Dublin and the unincorporated areas of Ashland, Cherryland, and San Lorenzo.  and Bill McCammon for the 18th Assembly District seat; OakPAC endorsed Democrat Mary Hayashi and contributed $3,300 to her campaign. , Glenda Nardine, and Frank Mataresse, all running for Alameda County Supervisor -- District 3 were interviewed. Shelia Young received the endorsement along with a $1,000 contribution to her campaign.
