OZ to Deploy Mobile IM Client for Telefonica Moviles Espana; OZ IMPS Client to Provide Telefonica Moviles Users in Spain with a Rich Mobile IM Messaging Experience.


BARCELONA, Spain -- OZ, the leading mobile messaging solution provider, today announced that Telefonica Moviles Espana has chosen the OZ IMPS Client to power their operator branded mobile instant messaging Mobile Instant Messaging abbreviated as MIM is a presence enabled messaging service that aims to transpose the Internet desktop messaging such as ICQ or MSN experience to the usage scenario of being connected via a mobile/cellular device.  (IM) service. Offered under the 'movistar' brand, the OZ Client will work along with Colibria's IM and Presence Server to provide Telefonica Moviles subscribers in Spain, with the ability to stay connected in real-time with their contacts while they are on-the-go. Telefonica Moviles Espana will deploy this new service in Q2/2006; as a result, Telefonica expects to gain a competitive advantage by providing its subscribers in Spain, with another advanced mobile messaging option to stay connected.

Instant messaging Exchanging text messages in real time between two or more people logged into a particular instant messaging (IM) service. Instant messaging is more interactive than e-mail because messages are sent immediately, whereas e-mail messages can be queued up in a mail server for seconds or  continues to be one of the most popular methods of mobile communications; analyst group Forrester expects mobile IM to reach 44.68 billion messages a year by 2010(1). With a large number of Telefonica Moviles Espana subscribers already using their mobile phone for messaging, the OZ Mobile IMPS Client provides end-users with the benefit of being able to immediately be in touch with their online contacts.

The OZ Mobile IMPS Client delivers branded user interfaces that reflect the operator-owned mobile IMPS community. Alternatively, with downloadable clients, mobile operators can offer their existing subscriber base immediate access to their IM accounts on their mobile phone.
