: Two Anaheim Lake regulars were in the final drawing for the $1 million grand prize in the Turner's Outdoorsman tagged-catfish event held over the past month at the private Anaheim and Corona lakes in Orange and Riverside counties.

On Labor Day Labor Day, holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada on the first Monday in September to honor the laborer. It was inaugurated by the Knights of Labor in 1882 and made a national holiday by the U.S. Congress in 1894. , the pair stood before a stack of 250 envelopes knowing that one held the $1 million grand prize, and also knowing that one of them would at least win a brand new Jeep Wrangler The Wrangler (also known as the YJ, TJ, and JK, as explained below) is an off-road vehicle produced by American automaker Chrysler under its Jeep marque.  even if they didn't get the cash.

Daniel Kim of Buena Park Buena Park (bwā`nə), city (1990 pop. 68,784), Orange co., S Calif.; inc. 1953. Food processing, the manufacture of aircraft, and tourism are important to the city's economy.  and Charles Johnson of Pomona put on quite a show for the crowd gathered at Anaheim Lake for the final drawings and both were well-known regular anglers.

``Johnson must have taken five minutes to open the envelope, doing chants and incantations over the envelope,'' said Doug Elliott, co-owner of the concessions at the fish-for-a-fee reservoir. ``He was really entertaining everyone. It took him so long some people started yelling at him to open the envelope because he was losing interest on the money.'' But neither Kim nor Johnson picked envelope No. 83, which had the big payoff. In the final drawing between the two for the Jeep Cherokee, Kim was the lucky angler and drove home in a new vehicle valued at more than $20,000.

The event featured more than 1,000 tagged fish split between the two lakes, including 100 white tags that qualified anglers for a preliminary drawing to get into the $1 million drawing. All the other tags held cash prizes worth from $5 to $500. Between the two lakes, 31 white tags were caught.

All qualifiers had to arrive at the lake before the 4 p.m. deadline on Labor Day; Kim arrived with only four minutes to spare.
