Forest volunteers sought for Cascade wilderness work April 27 is the deadline to register for the High Cascade Forest Volunteers' training session, May 18-20, at Westridge School in Oakridge. The volunteer group helps monitor and maintain wilderness areas and trails within the Willamette and Deschutes national forests. Classes will cover trail maintenance, trail crew leadership, First Aid/CPR certification, cross-cut and chain saw use, wilderness stewardship, adopt a trail/lake programs, Compass/GPS, survival tips and more. Volunteers will be treated to a barbecue dinner and musical entertainment Saturday night. There is no charge for the weekend and free camping is available.
