A dragonfly adventure workshop for kids is scheduled Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Mount Pisgah Arboretum The Mount Pisgah Arboretum (85 ha / 209 acres) is a non-profit arboretum and botanical garden located within the Howard Buford Recreation Area (930 ha / 2,300 acre), between the Coast Fork of the Willamette River and the slopes of Mount Pisgah near Eugene-Springfield, Oregon, . An adult version of the workshop will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The cost is $12, and registration is required; call 747-1504. Mossbacks Volkssports Club to host Wetland Walk The West Eugene Wetlands will be featured Sunday in a walk sponsored by the Eugene-Springfield Mossbacks Volkssports Club. The 10- kilometer (6.2-mile) walk is on the hike/bike path from the wetlands yurt to the scenic overlook on Green Hill Road, and back. A 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) route is also offered. Participants may register for and start their walk anytime between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the yurt near the Wetland Project Office, 751 S. Danebo Ave. There is no charge for the walk, but International Volkssports credit for the event is available for $3. Details: www.mossbacks.org. How to get found when you're lost in the woods Lane County Sheriff's Search and Rescue and the Oregon Department of Parks and Recreation will give a free presentation Saturday on what to do if you or your child should get lost in the woods. The presentation, which includes demonstrations by a search and rescue dog The use of dogs in search and rescue (SAR) is a valuable component in responding to law enforcement requests for missing persons. Dedicated handlers and hard working, well-trained dogs are required in search efforts to be effective in their task. , will begin at 2 p.m. at Lowell State Recreation Area, 17 miles southeast of Eugene. FISHING, HUNTING & WILDLIFE VIEWING Rivers and streams: The McKenzie River between Blue River and the head of Leaburg Lake will be stocked this week with 7,750 fin-clipped rainbow trout, and Leaburg Lake will get an additional 2,000. Also Salt Creek near Oakridge will be stocked with 500 trout, and the Middle Fork Willamette River The Middle Fork Willamette River is one of several forks that unite to form the Willamette River in the western part of the U.S. state of Oregon.
