The Sun Valley Chamber of Commerce was established in 1925. It currently has about 200 members under the leadership of President Lily Lee. Executive Director Vinita McClennon runs the day-to-day operations.

McClennon said the April 20 event will be a concerted effort by the chamber to give its members better access to policymakers.

``We started brainstorming,'' McClennon said. ``How do we bring these two groups together? Because politicians want to know about the businesses as much as the businesses want to know about the politicians.''

At the exchange, community leaders, including law enforcement officials, will respond to questions they receive in advance. McClennon said chamber officials thought that would be the best format for a weeknight week·night

``We wanted the most full and urgent questions to be answered completely,'' McClennon said. ``(We) thought that the elected officials would be prepared and have facts and figures.''

Chamber President Lee, while out of town, stated in an e-mail that in the last few years the organization has focused on improving the ``overall environment in the area'' and that its members include nonprofit organizations Nonprofit Organization

Besides their political meet-and-greet, the chamber hopes to step up its political influence through its governmental affairs committee chaired by member Robert McAllister.

McClennon moved to Sun Valley 11 years ago and has worked for the chamber for eight months.
