OTTO G. OBERMAIER, FORMER U.S. ATTORNEY, TO JOIN WEIL, GOTSHAL & MANGES

 NEW YORK, March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Weil, Gotshal & Manges announced today that Otto G. Obermaier, having resigned as United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, has joined the Firm in its litigation practice in New York.
 Mr. Obermaier served as U.S. Attorney from October 1989 until February 1993. While U.S. Attorney, he also served on the Attorney General's Advisory Committee of U.S. Attorneys, a group of 15 of the nation's 94 U.S. Attorneys who advise the Attorney General on matters of concern to the U.S. Attorneys. He was also Chairman of the New York-New Jersey High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) and the New York-New Jersey Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF).
 He has written and lectured extensively. His articles have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Barron's as well as numerous legal publications.
 Before becoming U.S. Attorney in 1989, he was in private practice for 19 years with his own firms. His prior government experience includes being Chief Trial Counsel, New York Regional Office, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and a law clerk to a Federal District Judge.
 Mr. Obermaier is a member of the New York and District of Columbia Bars, a Fellow both of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Bar Foundation and a member of the American Law Institute.
