OTG Software announces ApplicationExtender 3.2.

Software offers many new features for enhanced document image management

 Software Monday announced that it is shipping ApplicationExtender 3.2, which lets users implement turn-key imaging solutions and/or image enable existing Windows business applications.

New features in release 3.2 include foreign file support, scanners supporting the ISIS interface, Oracle 7 server support, user and group security, image storage typing and other features.

The 3.2 upgrade addresses real-world information management issues with new features designed to save and view images in native format, utilize more than 145 scanners supported by utilize ISIS drivers, replicate images across specified DiskExtender(R) servers, view magnified areas of images with ease, annotate annotate - annotation  documents in multiple and flexible ways, and import images in their original format, and more.

Applications developed with ApplicationExtender support a range of multimedia OLE objects, including voice and video, as well as a broad selection of image data, including color, black-and-white, and grayscale In computing, a grayscale or greyscale digital image is an image in which the value of each pixel is a single sample. Displayed images of this sort are typically composed of shades of gray, varying from black at the weakest intensity to white at the strongest, though in  images, and engineering drawings.

"We received feedback from our many VAR's and users about features they wanted to see in ApplicationExtender 3.2 and have incorporated many of these features in this release," said Cheryl Ashe, vice-president of sales, OTG Software.

"It's designed to let users retrieve the information they need in the format most convenient, and by doing so, ApplicationExtender 3.2 helps people to easily manage and manipulate documents."

Foreign File Support: Allows images to be saved and viewed in their native format.

ISIS Support: Scanners utilizing ISIS drivers are now supported. This adds over 145 scanners that can be used with ApplicationExtender, in addition to Win ASPI-driven scanners already supported natively.

Oracle 7 Server: Oracle 7 is now integrated for use with ApplicationExtender.

User Group Security: Administrators can easily create and manage permissions for individuals and groups, saving time and resources.

Image Storage Typing: This new feature allows the user to set the format that is used when storing color images.

Import As Is: Allows images to be imported to ApplicationExtender in their original format.

Image Replication: Enables the replication of images across specified DiskExtender servers.

Magnifier Viewer: Users can now select a toolbar A row or column of on-screen buttons used to activate functions in the application. Many toolbars are customizable, letting you add and delete buttons as required. Toolbars may be fixed in position or may float, which means they can be dragged to a more convenient location in the  button and scroll the magnifier over an image for immediate magnification of an area. By utilizing a viewer window, the user can zoom in and out of the area with just a click of a button.

Polyline and Polygon Annotation: This new annotation feature offers increased flexibility when annotating an·no·tate

ApplicationExtender 3.2 software is fully ODBC-compliant. Imaging applications developed with ApplicationExtender can be used with any OTG certified ODBC-compliant database.

Its Windows(TM) graphical interface See GUI.  makes ApplicationExtender easy to use for both administrators and end-users. By virtue of a template embedded in the software, administrators define indices that govern where documents are stored, in a document/page scheme. Additionally, multiple security levels establish various levels of access.
