OTG Software Xtends Its Reach Into The Email Storage Management Market.

OTG Software knows about data storage management--the company's suite of "Xtender" solutions, which improve the acquisition, storage, accessibility, and utilization of mission critical data across the enterprise, serve as a testament. It seems only natural then, with 3.2 billion e-mails sent daily last year, according to IDC, that OTG would extend its reach into the email storage management market.

Specifically, that reach came in the form of OTG's recent acquisition of xVault, Inc., a Virginia-based email solutions provider. By combining its indexing and direct read capability with xVault's email migration and intelligent search technology, OTG can offer its users easy access to stored email and attachments. The new email product--expected to be available June 30--proved a natural extension of OTG's DiskXtender product, according to OTG executive vice president Bill Caple. "The core technology in the DiskXtender product is the core technology that is really going to be at the root of our [email product], which now is much more robust and enhanced by the xVault product."

OTG will sell this new email product through its reseller network. Pricing, according to Caple, will be storage capacity and user environment-based.

"We are very excited about this marriage of technologies, which we believe will be a powerful tool for total e-mail management," says xVault president Al Sivick. "OTG's broad and established reseller network will also enable us to grow much faster."
