OTG Software (NASDAQ:OTGS) today announced it has entered into a technology agreement with EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) to integrate DiskXtender(R) with the newly announced EMC Centera content addressed storage (CAS) solution. The company expects to complete integration this quarter.

EMC Centera represents an entirely new software-driven storage architecture purposely built to address the unique information storage requirements of long-lasting, unchanging digital objects -- or "fixed content" -- such as medical imaging, document imaging, rich media and messaging.

OTG's core storage technology, DiskXtender, provides comprehensive data storage management for an enterprise's business data. By virtualizing primary and secondary storage into an `infinite disk', DiskXtender enables administrators to increase their storage capacity almost without limitation. It also leverages existing storage assets and reduces complexity to help lower the total cost of data ownership. Administrators benefit from centralized, policy-based, hierarchical storage management (HSM) and control, while users and applications have transparent access to the stored data. DiskXtender is the foundation of OTG's XtenderSolutions(R) suite of storage, email archiving and content management software. In a Centera environment, DiskXtender Data Managers are deployed around an organization's network to "extend" the file systems/storage of primary servers. Data Managers migrate data from these file systems, based on administrator-defined HSM policies, to EMC Centera. Data Managers also enable transparent access to the on-line, disk-based Centera data repository. The unique combination of DiskXtender and Centera provides for a low cost, fast access solution to archive and access extremely large amounts of business data.
