). This is ORIX's first undertaking of environment-related operations overseas.

Through its specialized section, Energy and Eco Services Department, ORIX has carried out the development and provision of various services that contribute to the reduction of environmental burden and energy costs. Utilizing this expertise, ORIX will offer services including energy evaluation, facility evaluation and project implementation planning for factory facilities of Japanese companies in Malaysia. ORIX also plans to provide a stable supply of heat and electricity through the induction of cogeneration facilities using natural gas as an energy source.

As part of its services, our ESCO operations offers to improve energy efficiency, provide efficiency renewal and fuel conversion to natural gas with lower environmental burden, and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Going forward, ORIX looks to contribute, through CDM, to achieve greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets in Japan, in addition to acquiring Emission Reduction Credits such as CO2.

As a new effort against global warming, ORIX looks to expand its operations to various countries in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, by maximizing the know-how accumulated through its track record of implementing cogeneration facilities and energy efficient facilities in Japan, and utilizing its overseas network of 22 countries and regions and 240 locations. Using the research duties of the CDM as a springboard, ORIX will also consider participating in various projects, providing financial services to project leaders of the CDM, and strive to actively assist and promote activities regarding global environment protection, both in and out of Japan.
