ORGANIZER SAYS EVENT'S FOCUS IS PERCEPTION OF THE FAMILY.Byline: Carol Rock Staff Writer CANYON COUNTRY - Its subject matter will be thought-provoking, sometimes silly, even campy, but always safe for the whole family to watch together - a goal of the International Family Film Festival, which celebrates its 10th year of existence Friday. The festival, which is themed ``One World - One Family,'' will feature more than 60 domestic and foreign films with various subjects and lengths. Audiences can select from a variety of films, from shorts, animation, feature and documentary subjects, with 165 chances to see them at the Edwards Cinemas in Canyon Country. Screenings will start at 2 p.m. Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with screenings beginning at noon Saturday and Sunday Sunday: see Sabbath; week. and continuing on two to five screens into the evenings. Individual tickets for screenings are $6 for festival members, $7 for nonmembers, and $5 for seniors and children age 12 and under. ``We ask of the independent and studio filmmakers, their films, screenplays and all the programs presented during the festival to somehow entertain, engage and further educate us about ourselves,'' festival executive director and co-founder Chris Shoemaker Chris Shoemaker is a Myrtle Beach, SC based builder of custom motorcycles. His company, Wicked Choppers, was officially born in 2002. Its first from the ground-up custom designed chopper, "Wicked Monster" caught the eye of EasyRiders magazine and appeared on the cover, as said in a prepared statement. ``By seeing how family is experienced and expressed by others, we may indeed gain new perceptions and insights into the family we call our own.'' In addition, the festival will feature three special events. Opening the festival Friday evening will be the screening of short films ``Early Bloomer Early Bloomer is a 2003 computer animated short produced by Sony Pictures Imageworks. The festival will conclude with an awards ceremony and reception at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The Friz Award, named after late animator Friz Freleng Isadore "Friz" Freleng (August 21, 1906[1] – May 26, 1995) was an animator, cartoonist, director, and producer best known for his work on the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of cartoons from Warner Bros. , honoring outstanding achievement in animation, will be given to the creative team for ``Shrek I'' and ``Shrek II'' from DreamWorks Studio.
