Science Factory to host `Crawling Creatures'

Girl Scouts Girl Scouts, recreational and service organization founded (1912) in Savannah, Ga., by Mrs. Juliette Gordon Low (1860–1927). Girl Scouts of Western Rivers Council will sponsor a mini meeting and sign-up night from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Eugene Service Center, 1577 Pearl St., Suite 300. Library will hold Teen Game Night Friday

Teen Game Night will be from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Sheldon Branch of the Eugene Public Library for middle and high school students, New and unusual board and card games will be provided along with video and computer games. Participants can bring their own games.

Puppet Festival offers free family event Saturday

The Springfield Puppet Festival will offer a free family event Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Springfield Public Library meeting room.

Celeste's Puppet Workshop kids present "The Rock Concert," an original and zany puppet show. Fifteen students, under the leadership of Celeste Celeste is a woman's first name. Celeste may also refer to:

Academy will offer two public programs

The Springfield Academy of Arts & Academics will offer two programs to the public this week.

Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., "The Revolution Project" will be presented by Humanities & Inquiries I. It is a research-driven project developed into a video performance piece with the help of the Pearson Video Story Telling Foundation, as well as LCC (Leadless Chip Carrier, Leaded Chip Carrier) See leadless chip carrier, CLCC and PLCC.

1. LCC - Language for Conversational Computing. Written at CMU in the 1960's.
 partnership guest-artist Marti Stevens-Beyers. Screenings of the students' work will be the A3 Main building and the Memorial building.

Eugene history focus of interpretive program

Interpreters from the Shelton--McMurphy-Johnson House bring history into the classroom by telling the story of growing up in Eugene in the early 20th century.

Artifacts, photographs and personal memories illustrate details of life at home and school, including mealtimes, chores, sleigh rides, homemade ice cream and holiday celebrations.

The program is available on a limited basis through March. Scheduling is coordinated through the Lane County Historical Museum and interested teachers may call 682-4242 or visit www.lanecountyhistoricalsociety.org.

Deadline approaches for trip to Costa Rica

The application deadline is approaching for students who want to join South Eugene High School South Eugene High School is a public high school located in Eugene, Oregon, United States. It was founded as Eugene High School around 1900, and was located at Willamette Street and West 11th Avenue in a brick building that later served as Eugene's city hall.  Spanish teacher Ken Davis on an educational Biology/Spanish immersion program in Costa Rica this summer.

Students spend four weeks living with a host family, taking intensive language classes at the Academia Tica. On weekends, the group will go whitewater rafting and travel with Davis to Tortuguero on the Caribbean coast, to the Cloud Forest, and to a marine biology field station on the Pacific Coast. Each group is limited to 10 participants. Scholarships are available.

Vocational academy plans conference

SPRINGFIELD - The Vocational Education Transition Academy will provide high school students with disabilities an opportunity to learn about education and career options for life after high school during a conference on Thursday. On Wednesday, a special parent/teacher event from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. will feature a panel of college and community agency service providers who will offer tips and ideas for helping students transition from high school to college. Interested parents and teachers can call Lynn at 463-5150 to register.

The conference will be held at LCC's Center for Meeting and Learning from 8:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Thursday

Middle school bands will present concert Thursday

A concert by seven middle school bands will be presented at South Eugene High School at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Bands from Roosevelt, the Arts and Technology Academy, Kelly, Spencer Butte, Kennedy, Madison and Monroe middle schools will perform.

The featured guest artist will be trumpeter Dave Bender of the Eugene Symphony. He will perform "Trumpeter's Holiday." The bands also will play American Patrol, Little Brown Jug, Soldiers' Procession, Sword Dance and other songs.

Guest conductors for the program will be Chet Peterson, former Eugene School District Eugene School District (4J) is a public school district in the U.S. state of Oregon. It serves the city of Eugene Elementary schools

Free workshop for parents offered Wednesday

Paula Wilkes, Ph.D., will present "Nurturing the Creative Spirit," a free workshop for parents of gifted students. The event, co-sponsored by Pacific University and the Lane Education Service District, will be at noon Wednesday at Pacific University, 40 E. Broadway. Reservations are not required.
