Byline: Brice Nixon Staff Writer

ANAHEIM - The Minnesota Wild The Minnesota Wild are a professional ice hockey team based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Their symbol is a bear made to look like the wilderness.  could produce Monday.

Two days after a one-goal victory over the Wild in Minnesota, the Ducks tried to duplicate that effort in front of 13,331 at the Pond.

They did for nearly 50 minutes, before the Wild tied it and then won on Antti Laaksonen's goal in overtime, the 2-1 victory being just the third for the Wild in its past eight games.

``The toughest part about this is you didn't want to give them any points, obviously,'' Ducks coach Mike Babcock Mike Babcock (born April 29, 1963 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada [1]) is a Canadian hockey head coach and former player. From 2002 to 2005 he was the head coach of the NHL's Anaheim Mighty Ducks, leading the Ducks to their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals  said. ``In our building, they're down, and they come in here in the third period and they find a way to win the game.''

Laaksonen scored the game-winner with 2:07 remaining in overtime, converting a pass from Wes Walz Wes Walz (born 15 May, 1970 in Calgary, Alberta) is a Canadian ice hockey centre who currently plays for the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League.

Walz was drafted by Boston 57th overall in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.

The Ducks have scored one goal in each of the four games they've played against the Wild this season. They had won two of those games 1-0 thanks to two shutouts by Jean-Sebastien Giguere. It seemed the Ducks had resolved to do the same Monday after taking a 1-0 lead early in the first period. They weren't outshot as they had been Saturday against the Wild (33-13), but they allowed the Wild to slowly take control.

Minnesota goalie Dwayne Roloson Albert Dwayne Roloson (born October 12, 1969 in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada) is an NHL goaltender currently playing for the Edmonton Oilers. Playing career

allowed one goal in each of the three games he's played against the Ducks this season. He was fourth in the league with a 1.95 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage before Monday's game. Roloson has both of the Wild's victories against the Ducks, including a 4-1 victory in which he stopped 20 of 21 shots.

Again, he was sharp against the Ducks but was nearly foiled by Giguere for the second time in three days.

Then Minnesota defenseman Nick Schultz Nick Schultz (born August 25, 1982, in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. Playing career

, who was behind the Ducks' goal, and beat Giguere to tie the score 1-1 with 10:33 remaining.

``My fault on the first goal,'' Ducks captain Paul Kariya Paul Tetsuhiko Kariya (born October 16, 1974 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada), is a professional ice hockey player who plays for the St. Louis Blues. Personal life  said. ``I didn't have my defenseman and he made a nice play. Then they get one in overtime. It's frustrating. I just got a little puck-focused and drifted in.''

The goal broke Giguere's scoreless streak at 119 minutes, 19 seconds, 109:27 of which came against the Wild.

``We came out and really had some good jump early, had some good opportunites,'' Babcock said. ``They dominated the middle frame. Then they scored. You have to be good defensively, and we gave up a goal in d-zone coverage there. Then they get the break in OT.''

Petr Sykora gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead 2:53 into the game. Defenseman Fredrik Olausson stepped past a defender at the right faceoff circle and spied Sykora lurking near the back post. Sykora took the pass and tapped it past Roloson.

After Sykora's early goal, Roloson stopped everything the Ducks threw at him. He made 30 saves in the game, including a save on Sykora later in the period and another on Kariya after some precision passing from Kariya to Sykora to Adam Oates and back to Kariya.
