. I can't believe something like that happened here. We have our share of problems, but nothing like this.''

Deputies received the 911 call just before midnight and were on scene within seconds, but the suspects' vehicle was nowhere in sight.

The victims told investigators they were standing in the front yard of a home, a residence of one of the victims in the 38800 block of Juniper Tree Road, when four men drove by and opened fire.

Investigators said they believe the suspects may be tied to other shootings because of the small caliber of gun used and the description of the suspects and their vehicle, though they would not say if those shootings occurred in the Antelope Valley.

The suspects were described as African-American men between the ages of 18 and 23 in a newer model white or champagne colored Saturn.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 or the Palmdale sheriff's station at (661) 267-4300.

The killing was the 38th homicide in the Antelope Valley this year.

With more than three weeks still left in the year, Friday's shooting ties 2003 with 1992 as the bloodiest year the Antelope Valley has seen in terms of homicides.
