NEWHALL - After winning its long-sought championship, capturing the Southern Section Div. I-A title Saturday following three championship losses the previous four years, Hart High of Newhall's girls' basketball team faces an uphill battle Uphill Battle was an metalcore band with elements of grindcore and noisecore.  in the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  Regionals.

Instead of an expected home game to open the state playoffs, the Indians INDIANS. The aborigines of this country are so called.

The Cavers, who defeated Hart by 31 points in the regionals two years ago, have won 25 in a row and are seeded No. 4 in Cal-Hi Sports' rankings, one spot ahead of Hart.

Hart guard Taylor Lilley, among California's all-time 3-point leaders, is still shaking her head.

``(Two years ago) we had lost the section title,'' Lilley said. ``This year, we won it, so I don't understand why we have to go all the way to San Diego again. We're just going to have fun and do what we do. San Diego is a pretty place, but it's a long drive.''*

Hart has won 15 in a row by an average margin of more than 24 points. The Indians have never advanced past the second round of the regionals - in girls' or boys' basketball - so they could make history in their first post-Ashlee Trebilcock season.

``Our main focus was on the CIF (1) (Common Intermediate Format) A standard video format used in videoconferencing. CIF formats are defined by their resolution, and standards both above and below the original resolution have been established. Ashlee's gone this year, but I do think we're actually a better team.

``It's definitely been more fun, because the girls on this team have made it fun - they're all just so awesome and so unselfish. It's a great group of girls, and that's what's made it more fun. Plus, we have an inside presence this year, and we've never really had that before.''

The section championship ended a 16-year dry spell for veteran coach Dave Munroe, who won a title in his first season in 1990.

``The CIF championship was our goal,'' Munroe said. ``We're just going to go (to San Diego) and battle. Yes, there are a lot of good teams - but we're one of them.''

Lilley, who scored 19 points in a 54-37 victory over Canyon of Canyon Country in Saturday's final, has 110 3-pointers this season - the fifth- best single-season total in Southern Section history. She's 11 shy of the section record.

``That shot was just kind of unreal,'' Lilley said. ``As soon as I shot it, I thought to myself, 'Wow, that's not going to go in, is it?' It was definitely a momentum-swinger.''

``I call Amanda my jack-of-all-trades,'' Munroe said. ``She's one of our best passers and just a great team player. She's just worked her butt BUTT.
