Carol Jackson has been named vice president of external affairs for Macy's West in Los Angeles, part of the Federated Stores retail chain. She is responsible for developing community business relationships and furthering the commitment to diversity. Previously, she was director for Macy's human resources center in Los Angeles.

Ernest H. Urquhart has been promoted to senior vice president of human resources worldwide at Harcourt Inc. in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. He has global responsibility for strategic leadership of all human resources activities. He was formerly vice president of human resources for Fisons Pharmaceuticals and Johnson & Johnson.

Erika Alexander has been promoted to brand vice president of TownePlace Suites by Marriott, Marriott's chain of midpriced, extended-stay hotels. She is responsible for evolving the brand's service strategy, its operating environment and key business processes. Previously, she was brand team vice president.

David Linton has been named senior vice president of R&B promotion and marketing for Capitol Records in Hollywood. He is responsible for all facets of the label's R&B promotional efforts, including hiring and supervising the department's staff. Most recently, he was vice president of black music promotion for Arista Records.

Carole Henderson Tyson has been appointed vice president for program-related initiatives for the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies in Washington, D.C. She will manage the Center's international programs as well as domestic opportunities. Previously, she was director of the U.S. Agency for International Development Mission in Jamaica.
