San Francisco's Red & White Fleet is offering special cruises to view the annual July 4 fireworks fireworks: see pyrotechnics.

Monterey blues festival

The Monterey Bay Blues Festival is Saturday and June 28 at the Monterey fairgrounds. Two days of live entertainment, arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts.  (10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily). Pageant of the Masters The Pageant of the Masters is an annual festival held by the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach, California. The event is known for the "living pictures" wherein classical and contemporary works of art are recreated by real people posing in almost exact detail to the work of art they  

The Pageant of the Masters at the Festival of Arts is July 8-Aug. 30 at the Irvine Bowl Park in Laguna Beach. For tickets to the nightly presentation of the living pictures of artwork at 8:30 p.m., call (714) 497-6582 or (800) 487-3378. Tickets range from $10 to $45 each. Before the show, stroll the art exhibits of 160 painters, sculptors, ceramists, jewelers, photographers and other artists from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily. (Pageant tickets will admit you to the Festival exhibits). Tickets for the art exhibit only is $5; $3 for seniors and students. Focus on Steinbeck

Four inns of Monterey are offering one- and two-night Steinbeck packages that include two tickets to the new National Steinbeck Center A museum dedicated to author John Steinbeck which is located in Salinas, California.

Oregon expedition

The U.S. Forest Service is offering a Heritage Expedition featuring tours and site visits to the Medicine Creek rock art and other archeological sites in the Umpqua Basin of Southwestern Oregon. The trip includes presentations by specialists in American Indian rock art, archeological method and theory, flint knapping, ethnobotany ethnobotany /eth·no·bot·a·ny/ (-bot´ah-ne) the systematic study of the interactions between a culture and the plants in its environment, particularly the knowledge about and use of such plants.  and on-site archeological field work. Festival in Reno

A visual and performing arts festival in Reno runs from June 29 to July 31. The third annual Uptown, Downtown, ARTown summer festival showcases Broadway, fine arts, dance and film with 200 events, some just for children.
