Kheirabadi, PhD, Angel Delgado, PhD, Rodolfo Deguzman, BS, Jacqueline M. Crissey, BS and John B. Holcomb, MD, U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research, Fort Sam, Houston, Texas. Results of the study mentioned in the abstract showed that "Initial hemostasis was achieved in all animals (10/10) and was maintained for 2 wks in 9 of 10 pigs. One pig exsanguinated due to dressing failure 2 hrs post-op. Survival pigs resumed normal activities and gained an average 4.4 kg weight."
