Preclinical Study Shows that Fibrin Patch Offers an Easy, Rapid and Effective Method to Stop High Pressure Arterial Bleeding

NEW YORK -- OMRIX Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. ("OMRIX" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: OMRI), a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company that develops and markets biosurgical and antibody-based products, announced that an abstract regarding the Company's Fibrin Patch, a breakthrough biosurgery convergence product currently in development with Ethicon Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company, was presented by the U.S. Army at The American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST) 2006 Annual Meeting, which took place September 29 - 30, 2006 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Fibrin Patch, referred to in the abstract as a Biologic Hemostatic Dressing (BHD), is a convergence product, which combines Ethicon's biodegradable synthetic matrix with OMRIX's fibrin sealant biologicals (protein-based coagulation factors). The Fibrin Patch addresses hemostasis in brisk bleeding, a current unmet medical need.

The title of the abstract, "A Novel Biologic Hemostatic Dressing (BHD) Stops Arterial Hemorrhage And Provides Long Term Hemostasis In A Survival Model Of Aortotomy In Swine," is authored by, Bijan S. Kheirabadi, PhD, Angel Delgado, PhD, Rodolfo Deguzman, BS, Jacqueline M. Crissey, BS and John B. Holcomb, MD, U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research, Fort Sam, Houston, Texas. Results of the study mentioned in the abstract showed that "Initial hemostasis was achieved in all animals (10/10) and was maintained for 2 wks in 9 of 10 pigs. One pig exsanguinated due to dressing failure 2 hrs post-op. Survival pigs resumed normal activities and gained an average 4.4 kg weight."
