OMM INTRODUCES 32X32 MEMS-BASED ALL-OPTICAL SWITCH MODULE.OMM OMM Organisation Météorologique Mondiale (French: World Meteorological Organization) OMM Organización Meteorológica Mundial (Spanish: World Meteorological Organization) OMM Organizzazione Meteorologica Mondiale , Inc. has announced the introduction of its 32x32 all-optical switch module. The OMM32X32 module is a new addition to the company's extensive family of products for all-optical switching and optical add-drop applications. The compact module, measuring 200x280x35mm, operates over the full wavelength range of 1290nm to 1610nm and operates independent of signal transmission data rates or signal protocol. With a simple serial control interface and 5 volt operation, the OMM32X32 can optically switch any of 32 input ports to any of 32 output ports. The product is characterized by ultra low power An ultra low power, or ULP device, is an electronic gadget that has milli- or micro-watt power consumption. Some examples of ultra-low power devices:
"The bandwidth switching and cost saving capabilities of OMM's new product are compelling," said Philip Chapman, OMM President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . "When compared to conventional electrical switching, the ability to switch 32 channels all-optically has been estimated to reduce overall costs by more than 70%." "A smooth technology migration path is very important to today's customer. Extending the size of the matrix from a product platform that has already been shipping gives customers added assurance in reliability and manufacturability," said Karen Liu, Director of Optical Components at RHK RHK Ratahallintokeskus (Finnish: Finnish Rail Administration) RHK Ryan Hankin Kent (RHK, Inc. marketing consulting firm) RHK Rigshospitalets Kollegium (Copenhagen, Denmark dorm) Inc., a leading telecommunications industry research firm. Samples of the OMM32X32 are available now. |
