MODESTO - Omar Olivares Omar (Palqu) Olivares (born July 6 1967 in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico) is a former right-handed starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the St. Louis Cardinals (1990-1994), Colorado Rockies (1995), Philadelphia Phillies (1995), Detroit Tigers (1996-97), Seattle Mariners  doesn't have to imagine what it's like to face a major league player when you're still in the minors.

    ``I was like, 'wow','' said Oliveras, the former Angels pitcher who pitched for the Modesto A's on a rehab assignment Friday but was not involved in the decision in an 11-2 win over the JetHawks before 2,590 at John Thurman Field John Thurman Field is a stadium in Modesto, California.     Oliveras threw 19 pitches and allowed one strikeout in two perfect innings.

    ``I'm happy that I was able to throw strikes,'' he said. ``I'm feeling pretty good.''

    Ramos was born in Aurora, Illinois. He went to Pflugerville High School in Pflugerville, Texas, where he also resides today. He was a 5'11", 180-pound pitcher.
