OLDEST NEWSPAPER SOLD.

Barbados' oldest newspaper, the 105-year-old Barbados Advocate, is changing ownership, reports CANA (March 28, 2000). The Advocate is being taken over by Barbadian businessman Anthony Bryan, who runs a small newspaper and two radio stations. The paper (160 employees) was sold by McEnearney Alstons (Barbados) Ltd., subsidiary of the Trinidad & and Tobago conglomerate. Crown Caribbean Publications, the new owner, is a 100% Barbadian company. It owns and operates two radio stations (BBS 90.7FM and Faith 102.1 FM); and a subsidiary which publishes Action newspaper.
