OLD TOWN NEWHALL TO ENJOY FAIRE DAY.

NEWHALL - Music, dancing, puppets and crafts are turning San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the  into a festival of fun today for the fifth-annual Old Town Newhall Street Newhall Street is a street located in Birmingham, England.

Newhall Street stretches from Colmore Row in the city centre by St Phillip's Cathedral in a north-westerly direction towards the Jewellery Quarter.

This free festival offers activities and entertainment from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the entire family in the historic downtown area.

New this year will be a separate children's stage, as well as live performances at the Canyon Theatre Guild of its current presentation, ``The Music Man,'' and a concert by the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Concert Band.

Two puppet companies will be presenting four shows throughout the day at the Santa Clarita Repertory Theatre. The Metropolitan Puppet Authority will be presenting ``Native Dreams,'' a shadow puppet production, and Icarus Puppet Company will be performing ``Stories from Around the World,'' a traditional puppet show.

Numerous free craft areas will be available for children to enjoy. There will be a Huichol Indian yarn painting booth as well as a Papel Picado project.

Scott Groller of College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  will be sponsoring a pin-hole camera booth, and the Santa Clarita Artists Association, in addition to displaying works of art, will have a children's craft area.

For the first time at the fair, a skateboarding demonstration will be held adjacent to Billy's at the corner of Lyons Avenue and San Fernando Road. Shredding the street course will be boarders Chad Fernandez and Andrew Reynolds along with skaters from DVS DVS Det Vill Säga (Swedish)

Also available to delight the young at heart will be a walking puppet theater, stilt stilt, common name for some members of the family Recurvirostridae, shore birds including the avocet. Stilts, as their name implies, have the longest legs of any bird except the flamingo.  walkers, balloon artists, jugglers, magicians, face painters, caricaturists, a Moon Bounce, a giant slide, a rock-climbing mountain, pony rides and a petting zoo.

Food vendors will dot the street, and local restaurants such as El Trocadero and Thai Pepper along San Fernando Road will be open for business.

The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society will be offering historical walking tours of the downtown Newhall area. These tours will begin at the Historical Society's booth at the Street Faire, and a donation to the society is requested of participants.

There will be a nominal fee for the pony rides, the giant slide and the rock-climbing mountain. Free parking is available at the vacant lot at the corner of 13th Street and Santa Fernando Road, and a shuttle bus will take patrons to the fair.
